ANOTHER COLD DAY.

ENOUGH ABOUT THE WEATHER!!
THE SUPERVISORS MET THIS MORNING FOR THEIR REGULAR WEEKLY MEETING. UNUSUAL IN THAT IT WAS ONLY 45 MINUTES LONG.
THEY ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WILL OPEN BIDS FOR 3-YEAR RENTAL
OF THE COUNTY FARM AT 1 P.M. DECEMBER 23RD. BIDS ARE DUE THAT DAY AT 12:30. AFTER BIDS ARE OPENED, THOSE WHO SUBMITTED BIDS
WILL THEN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE THEIR BID.
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE HURST HOTEL AT 9 THIS MORNING. FIRE CHIEF MARK BECK SAID FIREMEN DISCOVERED SOME OVER-COOKED FOOD IN A MICROWAVE IN THE "COMMONS" AREA ON THE 4TH FLOOR. THERE WAS NO FIRE BUT SMOKE AND VOLUNTEERS HELPED CLEAR BY OPENING SOME WINDOWS. THAT BUILDING HAD A
COMPLETE $4 MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION LESS 10 YEARS AGO.
IN 2015 (NOT NEXT YEAR)... THE MAQUOKETA PROM WILL BE ON THE "CELEBRATION BELLE" RIVERBOAT. PERMISSION WAS GIVEN LAST NIGHT BY THE SCHOOL BOARD. ESTIMATED COST FOR ABOUT 200 STUDENTS, $8,975. SCHOOL BUSES WILL BE USED INSTEAD OF CHARTER BUSES.
MAQUOKETA WILL HOST DEWITT IN A GIRLS AND BOYS BASKETBALL
DOUBLEHEADER TONIGHT, WITH THE GIRLS GAME AT 6. MATT CLARK
WILL BROADCAST BOTH GAMES ON KMAQ AND OUR INTERNET SITE.
