THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOST THEIR OPENING GAME OF THE SEASON LAST NIGHT AT MT. VERNON.     RATED MT. VERNON
DEFEATED THE CARDINALS 54 TO 41.   AND THE CARDINAL BOWLING
TEAMS HOSTED WESTERN DUBUQUE YESTERDAY AT TIMBER LANES AND
BOTH THE BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS LOST.    FOR MORE, GO TO THE

TWO MAQUOKETA WOMEN WERE ARRESTED AFTER THEY ALLEGEDLY TOOK
ITEMS FROM WAL MART IN MAQUOKETA LATE LAST NIGHT.  CHARGED, 18 YEAR OLD KRISTY HALL AND 32 YEAR OLD WENDY EYE.     HALL WAS CHARGED WITH ROBBERY,  POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA AND EYE WAS CHARGED WITH THEFT IN THE 5TH DEGREE AND HAVING NO CAR INSURANCE.  HALL SHOVED THE ASSISTANT MANAGER AND FLED OUT THE DOOR.    HALL  WAS PLACED IN JAIL ON $10,000 CASH BOND AND EYE
WAS RELEASED.

MEDIACOM IS CLOSING THE MAQUOKETA OFFICE THIS FRIDAY.   LITTLE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE.    MANAGER MARILYN EVERDING IS RETIRING THIS WEEK AFTER OVER 25 YEARS AS THE LOCAL CABLE TV OFFICE
