A GOODWILL TRIP. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO COME HOME WEDNESDAY,
BUT A SMALL FIRE AT THE AIRPORT THERE HAS DELAYED THEIR FLIGHT.
THEY ARE SAFE AND KDL AIRLINES HAS PUT THEM UP IN A NICE
HOTEL AND THEY DOING SOME VISITS TO TOURIST SITES. THE
CURRENT HOPE IS THAT THEY WILL LEAVE FOR HOME LATE FRIDAY
AFTERNOON.
THE TIME CAPSULE FROM THE OLD LITTLE BEAR PARK HAS BEEN FOUND.
NO DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR OPENING IT.
NO INJURIES IN A ONE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT THAT HAPPENED ABOUT 9 YESTERDAY MORNING ON HIGHWAY 61. KAYLA GERARDY, AGE 19, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS DRIVING SOUTH AND DISTRACTED BY A BEE IN THE CAR AND SHE LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE AND IT WENT INTO THE DITCH AND THROUGH A FENCE. SHE WAS CHARGED WITH FAILURE TO MAINTAIN
CONTROL AND DAMAGES WERE LISTED AT $3,000 TO HER 1997 DODGE
TY THEDE, SON OF TROY AND RAEANN THEDE AND A MAY GRADUATE
OF MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL, IS THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB
NEW CLUB CHAMPION. ONLY THE THIRD HIGH SCHOOL GRAD TO WIN
THE HONOR THE SUMMER HE RECEIVED HIS DIPLOMA. HE DEFEATED
KENT RUPPERT ON THE 30TH HOLE OF THEIR SCHEDULED 36 HOLE
CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY. DICK SPECHT (NOW OWNS A GOLF COURSE) WON
IN 1984 THE SUMMER AFTER GRADUATION AND TYLER STURTZ DID IT
IN 1992. PRIOR TO PLAYING RUPPERT, THEDE BEAT SCOTT ZARUBA,
DR. BUDDY ATIENZA AND STACEY ROCKWELL. RUPPERT DEFEATED
KEITH KEIL, CHARLIE EASTERLY AND BLAISE WALLER, ANOTHER MAY
GRADUATE. TY PLAYED THIS PAST SPRING IN THE STATE GOLF
TOURNAMENT. IN OCOBER,HE ENTERS THE U.S. AIRFORCE.
GOOD NEWS, NANCY IS HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL (TODAY) AND DOING FINE.
THE ONLY OTHER TIMES SHE WAS IN A HOSPITAL WAS FOR THE BIRTHS OF HER 4 KIDS. IT WAS A LONG 5 DAYS FOR HER THIS TIME.
