CLOUDY AND COLD TODAY!  ENOUGH SAID.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL SPLIT A VOTE MONDAY NIGHT ON A CITY REQUEST TO INCREASE THE COST OF POSTING NOTICES ON DOORS OF THOSE WHO HAVEN'T PAID THEIR WATER BILL AND SEWER BILL.
THE INCREASE WAS TO BE FROM $20 TO $40.    THE VOTE WAS 3 TO 3
WITH COUNCILMAN CHAD STEFFEN ABSENT FROM MEETING.   THE ORDINACE CAN BE  BROUGHT BACK FOR DISCUSSION IF STEFFEN REQUESTS IT.

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER:
CHRIS BAKER AT 809 SOUTH FOURTH STREET SAID SOMEONE TRIED TO
BREAK INTO THE GARAGE SATURDAY.
JESSICA ONKEN AT 109 WEST MAPLE REPORTED A  LAPTOP COMPUTER WAS
STOLEN FROM HER RESIDENCE ON SATURDAY.
AND COURTNEY MORTENSON AT 1205 EAST PLATT, #130, REPORTED TO THE LAW CENTER THAT HER PURSE WAS TAKEN FROM HER VEHICLE ON
SATURDAY.

IN BASKETBALL LAST NIGHT, SOLON DEFEATED THE CARDINAL BOYS,
68 TO 41.   TRENT BOLLMAN WAS HIGH WITH 29 POINTS.
SOLON ALSO WON THE GIRLS GAME, 66 TO 28.

HIGH SCHOOL BOWLING YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING AT TIMBER LANES, IN BOYS COMPETITION, WESTERN DUBUQUE DEFEATED
THE CARDINALS 2885 TO 2631 PINS.
THE BOBCAT GIRLS ALSO WON OVER MAQUOKETA, 2118 TO 1982.
