ANOTHER SUNNY AND 50-DEGREE DAY.

THE BIDDING HAS ENDED FOR THE 8 PAINTINGS THAT HUNG IN THE
McDONALDS RESTAURANT IN MAQUOKETA OVER 20 YEARS.
SILENT BIDDING ENDED AT 5 THIS AFTERNOON.
THE BIDS TOTALED $2,980.00
AS EXPECTED, THERE WAS A LOT OF BIDDING ACTIVITY HERE AT
KMAQ TODAY, WHERE THE 8 PAINTINGS HAVE BEEN ON DISPLAY
FOR AROUND A MONTH.
THE PAINTINGS WERE DONATED BY McDONALD'S OWNER, GLEN
KARPINSKI OF GALENA.
AND HE AGREED TO MATCH THE TOTAL AND ALL THE PROCEEDS WILL GO
TO THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE IN IOWA CITY.   IT WILL RECEIVE
CHECKS TOTALING $5,960.00.
TOMORROW, I WILL HAVE MORE ON THE BUYERS AND WHY THEY
BOUGHT.     THE HIGHEST AMOUNT PAID FOR A PAINTING WAS $550 COSTELLO'S OLD MILL.
ONE PAINTING WAS  PURCHASED BY A WOMAN (AND HER NEW HUSBAND)
FROM OUT EAST, WHO WILL BE MOVING BACK TO MAQUOKETA SOON
AND HER GREAT GRANDFATHER SERVED THE IN THE CIVIL WAR AND
AFTER THE WAR, HE BUILDT A HOUSE IN MAQUOKETA AND PRACTICED
LAW HER.     THE HOUSE HAS  REMAINED IN THE FAMILY FROM DAY 1 AND
SHE AND HER HUSBAND WILL MOVE INTO IT.
