A TERRIFIC DAY  TODAY.....80
COOLER TOMORRW.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD LAST NIGHT DECIDED TO OFFER THE
CITY $50,000 FOR THE OLD POOL SITE, ACROSS FROM GOODENOW FOOTBALL FIELD AND NOT FAR FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.   THE CITY
COUNCIL IS EXPECTED TO ACCEPT THE OFFER.   THE DISTRICT WILL USE IT FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES AND PARKING DURING FOOTBALL GAMES....AND DOWN THE ROAD, IT MIGHT BE USED (THE UNDERGROUND PART) FOR A GEO-THERMAL  SYSTEM FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LIKE THEY JUST INSTALLED AT BRIGG'S ELEMENTARY.

A DUBUQUE MAN HAS BEEN HIRED AS THE NEW GIRL'S VARSITY BASKETBALL
COACH AT MCHS.   HE IS THOMAS BARNES WHO HAS  HAD EXTENSIVE
COACHING EXPERIENCE ON THE COLLEGE LEVEL, STARTING IN 1985.

THE MAQUOKETA VOLLEBALL TEAM WON THE MONTICELLO INVITATIONAL
TOURNAMENT LAST SATURDAY, BEATING BELLEVUE MARQUETTE,
DEWITT, MARION, WEST DELAWARE AND IN THE FINALS, DAVENPORT

RATED 9TH IN THE STATE.   THEY WILL PROBABLY MOVE UP AFTER THE BIG SATURDAY WIN.  TONIGHT, THE GIRLS  PLAY AT DYERSVILLE.
THERE WAS A NICE STORY ABOUT THEM TODAY ON THE  FRONT PAGE OF THE QUAD CITY TIMES SPORTS SECTION.
