CLEO ENGLISH IN ROCKFORD FOUND THIS 1943 WEEKLY PASTIME THEATRE
SHOWBILL IN AN OLD SCRAPBOOK AND SENT IT TO ME. HER MOM LIVED IN THIS AREA AND CLEO SAID HER MOM ALWAYS BOUGHT HER SHOES AT
SHOLL'S (AD IN UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER).
NOTE ALL THE BUSINESS PLACES THAT BOUGHT ADS IN THE SHOWBILL.
THE DECKER HOTEL IS THE ONLY ONE STILL IN BUSINESS.
IN THOSE DAYS, THE THEATRE CHANGED MOVIES OFTEN. THIS PARTICULAR
WEEK THERE WERE FIVE TO CHOOSE FROM DURING THE WEEK.
TWO WERE WESTERNS. AND INTERESTING THAT ON THE BIGGEST NIGHT
OF THE WEEK, THE MOVIE WAS A GENE AUTRY WESTERN.
ADMISSION PRICES ARE NOT LISTED.
I OWNED THE PASTIME THE FINAL 3 MONTHS BEFORE IT WAS TORN DOWN....
NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER OF 1972 AND JANUARY OF 1973.
STILL HAVE SOME OF THE SEATS IN THE KMAQ BASEMENT. THE
PROJECTIONIST FOR MANY YEARS WAS HOWARD BRINKER.
THANKS TO CLEO FOR SENDING THIS. CLICK-ON THE PAGES TO ENLARGE THEM FOR EASIER READING. REMEMBER, IN THOSE DAYS, THERE WAS NO TV, NO CASINOS, ETC.
AND I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT "BANK NIGHT" EACH WEEK WAS AN EXCITING
NIGHT IN MAQUOKETA. MANY COULD NOT GET A SEAT IN THE THEATRE, BUT STILL BOUGHT A TICKET AND STOOD OUTSIDE TO WAIT FOR THEIR NAME TO BE DRAWN. YOU HAS TO BE PRESENT TO WIN.
