BY THE MAQUOKETA POLICE....ON HIGHWAY 62, JUST NORTH OF THE
HIGHWAY 64 INTERSECTION. PAUL LAUGHLIN, AGE 67, OF RURAL MAQUOKETA AND SCOTT RUMPE, AGE 21, OF ANDREW WERE BOTH GOING NORTH ON 62. LAUGHLIN WAS DRIVING SLOWLY AND PULLED ONTO THE
SHOULDER AND RUMPE PROCEEDED TO PASS HIM BUT SWERVED BACK
ONTO THE HIGHWAY CAUSING THE COLLISSION. NO INJURIES.
THE LAUGHLIN PICKUP RECEIVED ABOUT $700 DAMAGE AND THERE WAS
$1,500 IN DAMAGES TO THE RUMPE VEHICLE. NO CHARGES WERE FILED.
AND THERE WERE 2 ACCIDENTS FRIDAY, THE FIRST AT 1:30 AT ARCADE AND PLATT. RITA WHARTON, AGE 70, WAS EAST BOUND ON PLATT AND TURNED TOO SHARP WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO ARCADE. THE WHARTON
CAR STRUCK THE FRONT FENDER OF A CAR DRIVEN BY RONNIE ALBIN, AGE 31, OF MAQUOKETA. BOTH DRIVERS WERE CHARGED. TWO PASSENGERS IN ALBINS CAR, CHEYENNE ALBIN, AGE 7 AND JOHN MILDER, AGE 35,WERE
TAKEN BY PRIVATE VEHICLE TO A DOCTOR'S OFFICE. THE WHARTON
CAR RECEIVED ABOUT $1,000 IN DAMAGE AND THERE WAS $2,500
DAMAGE TO THE ALBIN CAR.
THE SECOND ACCIDENT HAPPENED ABOUT 4 THAT AFTERNOON WHEN TWO MAQUOKETA DRIVERS COLLIDED ON EAST PLATT. JESSICA
HAYWARD, AGE 19 AND LARRY TEMPLETON, AGE 41, WERE BOTH
EAST BOUND ON EAST PLATT AND TEMPLETON SLOWED FOR A VEHICLE
IN FRONT OF HIM. HAYWARD SAID HER BRAKES FAILED AS SHE TRIED
TO SLOW DOWN AND SHE STRUCK THE REAR OF THE TEMPLETON CAR. NO ONE WAS HURT AND EACH CAR RECEIVED AN ESTIMATED $1,000 DAMAGE.
NO CHARGES WERE FILED.
ON THE POLICE BLOTTER, MITZI WASHBURN OF 400 BUTTERNUT IN MAQUOKETAA TOLD POLICE FRIDAY MORNING THAT SOMEONE HAD
STOLEN HER IPOD.
THEN, NICOLE LESLIE OF NORTH DEARBORN REPORTED SATURDAY
MORNING THAT TWO UNLOCKED VEHICLES AT HER HOME WERE GONE
