YESTERDAY, I MENTIONED HERE THAT THE CHAMBER IS SEEKING NEARLY $20,000 TO COVER A BUDGET SHORTAGE AND HEALTH INSURANCE FOR THE
CHAMBER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, TOM DEVINE. I WAS WRONG!
IT IS $8,000 PLUS $4,800 FOR THE INSURANCE. THE CITY COUNCIL FINANCE COMMITTEE WILL MAKE A RECOMMENDATION ON THIS REQUEST AND
PRESENT THEIR SUGGESTION TO THE ENTIRE COUNCIL, PROBABLY AT THE NEXT REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING.
MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL CEO CURT COLEMAN WILL TAKE ON EXTRA DUTIES
OF RUNNING THE DEWITT HOSPITAL FOR A FEW MONTHS UNTIL A NEW
CEO IS HIRED IN DEWITT. HE STARTS THE ADDITIONAL DUTIES JULY 1ST.
HE WILL WORK IN MAQUOKETA THREE DAYS A WEEK AND TWO AT
DEWITT. HE ACTUALLY WORKS FOR GENESIS MEDICAL IN DAVENPORT AND
GENESIS OVERSEES OVERALL OPERATIONS AT BOTH SMALLER
HOSPITALS.
IOWA CONGRESSMAN BRUCE BRALEY AND U.S. SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE TOM VILSACK (FORMER IOWA GOVERNOR) WILL BE IN MAQUOKETA MONDAY MORNING TO TALK ABOUT THE FARM BILL. THEY WILL BE AT THE
HURSTVILLE INTERPRETIVE CENTER AT 10:45 A.M. THE EVENT WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
THE MISS IOWA PAGEANT IS THIS WEEKEND IN DAVENPORT. ONE OF THE CONTESTANTS IS ALEXANDRIA NECKER, 19, OF DEWITT, MISS CLINTON COUNTY AND DAUGHTER OF THE DAVE NECKERS (NECKER'S JEWELRY) IN DEWITT.
