DEWITT. AUBREE TAYLOR TOOK FIRST IN THE 100 HURDLES AND
400 HURDLES....LAURA OSTERHAUS TOOK 1ST IN THE HIGH JUMP AND
THE 440 SHUTTLE HURDLE WAS TAKEN BY MAQUOKETA AND IN THAT
TEAM, AUBREE TAYLER, ASHLEY TRENTZ, AMBER NIGH ADN LAURA NUEMBERGER.,

THE GIRL'S GOLF TEAM TOOK 3RD IN THE DEWITT QUADRANGULAR.
BEST SCORE FOR MAQUOKETA, A 41, TURNED IN BY SOPHOMORE ALLISON
VANDEMORE.

THE BOYS SOCCER TEAM LOST TO SOLON, 5 TO 3. COLTON FEY SCORED TWICE
FOR MAQUOKETA AND SET UP BRAD WALLER'S NETTER FOR THE CARDINALS.
THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL GIRL'S SOCCER TEAM LOST TO SOLON
IN DOUBLE OVERTIME, 3 TO 2.

IN BOWLING LAST NIGHT AT TIMBER LANES, IN THE MIGHTY B & P LEAGUE,
MICHAEL VARNER ROLLED A 300. I HAVE NOT HEARD IF IT WAS HIS FIRST.
HE ENDED UP WITH THE HIGH SERIES TOO OF 718. THE SEASON ENDED LAST
NIGHT AND ROCKWELL CLEANUP TEAM TOOK CHAMPIONSHIP.

A BIRTH: -- TWO! --- ERIK AND JULIAN ROCKWELL HAD TWIN GIRLS FRIDAY,
APRIL 6TH IN IOWA CITY. CLARA KAY WEIGHED 6 POUNDS, 8 OUNCES AND
ELLA JEAN WEIGHED 6 POUNDS, 9 OUNCES. GRANDPARENTS ARE KEVIN ROCKWELL AND THE LATE SANDRA ROCKWELL AND CATHY DURKOP AND THE LATE JIM DURKOP.
CONGRATULATIONS!

ROSE MARIE HEIMS, 71, OF MONTICELLO, DIED TODAY AT HER HOME.
THE FUNERAL WILL BE FRIDAY AT 10:30 AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH IN MONTICELLO.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE A SISTER, GRACE OTTING OF MAQUOKETA.
KRAMER FUNERAL HOME IN MONTICELLO IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MET LAST NIGHT AND DID NOT NAME A
NEW COUNCIL PERSON. SOME MEMBERS OF COUNCIL WANT TO KNOW
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE 4 INTERESTED IN THE AT-LARGE POSITION.
A SPECIAL SESSION TO LEARN MORE ABOUT EACH WILL BE SET LATER.

THE COUNCIL LAST NIGHT DID APPROVE A RESOLUTION TO COMBINE WITH
JACKSON COUNTY, OTHER CITIES IN THE COUNTY AND THE GREATER DUBUQUE ASSOCIATION FOR THE CITY'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS.
THE RESOLUTION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER.
COUNCIL MEMBER AMY MOORE SAID THE CITY NEEDS TO MAKE ITS INTENTIONS
CLEAR THAT THEY ARE CHANGING DIRECTION WITH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE CITY.
MAYOR DON SCHWENKER SAID THEY DON'T KNOW IF GREATER DUBUQUE
WILL ACCEPT JACKSON COUNTY.
COUNCILMAN TRY THEDE SAID HE DIDN'T WANT TO ALIENATE THE CHAMBER
AND PULL ALL TIES.
