SUNNY AND COOL AGAIN TODAY....53 THE HIGH.
DOWN TO 27 AGAIN TONIGHT.
WARMER TOMORROW... AROUND 60.
THEN RAIN TOMORROW NIGHT AND ON AND OFF FROM FRIDAY AND
THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

THE CIRCUS IS IN TOWN TODAY AT THE FAIRGROUNDS IN FRONT AND
UNDER THE GRANDSTAND. TWO PERFORMANCES....THE 4:30 P.M. SHOW
IN ON AS I WRITE THIS AND AN EVENING SHOW AT 7:30 TONIGHT.

A CHICAGO TRUCK DRIVER ESCAPED INJURY WHEN HIS SEMI TIPPED OVER
EARLY THIS MORNING ON HIGHWAY 61 SOUTH OF TOWN.
IT TOOK SEVERAL HOURS TO GET HTE SEMI PULLED UPRIGHT AND
TOWED AWAY.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD IS URGING RESIDENTS TO CONTACT THEIR
LEGISLATORS TO EXPRESS OPPOSITION TO REQUIRE SCHOOL TO START
LATE IN AUGUST. THE HOUSE HAS PASSED THE BILL AND THE SENATE
HAS YET TO VOTE. A LATER SCHOOL START IS TO EXTEND THE SUMMER
TOURISM SEASON BUT SUPT. HUCKSTADT SAID WHEN THEY START THE SCHOOL
YEAR LATER IN AUGUST, IT IS DIFFICULT TO FINISH BY THE HOLIDAYS.
NOW, SCHOOL BOARDS CAN DECIDE WHEN TO START CLASSES AND MOST BOARDS WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY.

IN SPORTS...AT DEWITT YESTERDAY, THE MAQUOKETA BOYS GOLF TEAM
LOST TO DEWITT. TY THEDE HAD BEST SCORE FOR THE CARDINALS.

ALSO YESTERDAY, THE WATERLOO COLUMBUS BOY'S SOCCER TEAM BEAT
MAQUOKETA, 7 TO 2.
WATERLOO ALSO DEFEATED THE CARDINAL GIRLS 2 TO 0.

DID YOU KNOW THE AUTO INDUSTRY ACCOUNTS FOR MORE THAN $135 BILLION
OF THE NATION'S FEDERAL AND STATE TAX REVENUES. A STUDY,
RELEASED YESTERDAY BY THE ALLIANCE OF AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS,
SEEKS TO HIGHLIGHT THE HUGE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE SALE AND USE
OF THE NATION'S MORE THAN 250 MILLION VEHICLES. LAST YEAR, CAR SALES WERE 17 PERCENT UP OVER 2010. HERE AT KMAQ, WE HAVE A NEW CAR
SPOT ON-THE-AIR JUST ABOUT EVERY HOUR, SO WE ALSO VERY MUCH APPRECIATE THE AUTO INDUSTRY.

THE KWQC CHANNEL 6 REPORT ON KMAQ THIS AFTERNOON WAS VERY NICE.
LONGER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE.
IF YOU DIDN'T SEE IT, YOU CAN GO TO KWQC'S WEB SITE AND TAKE A LOOK
AT IT. JUST GOOGLE KWQC, DAVENPORT FOR HOME PAGE.
AND OF COURSE, YOU ALL KNOW THAT TV TENDS TO ADD SOME POUNDS
TO ANYONE ON TV. KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN I'M ON THE SCREEN!
ANYWAY, THANKS TO FRAN RILEY FOR A GOOD FEATURE ... GOOD PUBLICITY
FOR KMAQ.

END OF TODAY'S REPORT.
CHECK THE CIRCUS PHOTOS BELOW.
I TOOK THEM AT 4:30 THIS AFTERNOON.
