IT WAS 2 BELOW ZERO THIS MORNING. NOW, IT IS ZERO AND THE SUN
IS SHINING. COLD FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK, BUT IN THE MID 30'S
SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

FLUORIDE WILL CONTINUE TO BE ADDED TO THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA
WATER. MONDAY NIGHT, AFTER PRESENTATIONS BY DOCTORS AND
DENTISTS, THE COUNCIL VOTED 4 TO 2 TO CONTINUE USING IT.
RETIRED DENTIST (AND BIG ST. LOUIS CARDINAL FAN) DR. LEO BIEHL
WAS ONE OF THE DENTISTS WHO PUSHED THE COUNCIL MANY YEARS AGO
TO START FLUORIDATION IN MAQUOKETA. MONDAY NIGHT, HE SAID HE PRACTICED 15 YEARS BEFORE FLUORIDATION AND 25 YEARS AFTER. HE SAID THE DIFFERENCE WAS AMAZING AFTER IT STARTED TO BE USED IN MAQUOKETA. HE SAID HIS CHILDREN DID NOT HAVE FLUORIDATED WATER AND THEY HAVE WHAT HE CALLED, CONSIDERABLE PROBLEMS, BUT HIS
GRANDCHILDREN HAVE GOOD TEETH. HE URGED THE COUNCIL NOT TO REPEAL THE ORDINANCE WHICH WAS APPROVED IN MAQUOKETA IN THE 1980'S.
THE VOTE WAS TAKEN, WITH COUNCILMAN ERIC PAPE NOT PRESENT AND
VOTING NO, COUNCIL MEMBERS MOORE AND BOWEN.

MONDAY NIGHT, THE CARDINAL WRESTLERS HOSTED MOUNT VERNON
