CLOUDY THIS MORNING AND PARTLY SUNNY THIS AFTERNOON AND
A HIGH OF 40. A CHANCE OF SNOW TOMORROW...MAYBE A HALF INCH,
WITH A HIGH OF 35.
FRIDAY, MOSTLY SUNNY WITH A HIGH OF 35.

THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD HIRED A DUBUQUE FIRM TO DESIGN
AND ENGINEER A GEO-THERMAL HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM FOR
BRIGGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE COST WILL BE $125,000. ONE OTHER
BID WAS FOR $160,000, FROM A CEDAR RAPIDS FIRM. BOTH FIRMS
HAVE DONE THIS KIND OF WORK FOR OTHER DISTRICTS.
IT IS HOPED GRANTS CAN BE USED FOR THIS CLOSE TO $2 MILLION PROJECT.
THE PLAN IS FOR THE PROJECT TO BE BID IN FEBRUARY AND BE COMPLETED
BY SEPTEMBER. LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX REVENUE WILL ALSO BE USED
TO PAY FOR THE SYSTEM.

THE HOSPITAL BOARD MET LAST NIGHT AND LOTS OF TALK AGAIN ABOUT
WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE AGING HOSPITAL. TWO OPTIONS...BUILD ON
CURRENT SITE OR PICK ANOTHER. THE HOSPITAL IS OVER 130,000
SQUARE FEET. THE REHAB UNIT (FOUR YEARS OLD) IS 12,000 SQUARE FEET,
WHICH IS JUST 10 PERCENT OF THE OVERALL HOSPITAL BUILDING. THE REST
OF THE HOSPITAL WAS BUILT IN 1979 OR BEFORE THAT.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BEAT DUBUQUE WAHLERT (YES WAHLERT) LAST NIGHT
HERE...IN OVERTIME....BY 3 POINTS.
AT WAHLERT, THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS LOST.

TAKE CARE UNTIL TOMORROW AT THIS TIME.
