52 FOR A HIGH TODAY.....NOT BAD.
BUT, RAIN AND COOLER WEATHER IS NEXT.
MAYBE A LITTLE SNOW BEFORE THE WEEKEND IS OVER.

I CHECKED WAL MART AT 10 LAST NIGHT. THE PARKING LOT WAS PACKED,
THE SMALLER PARKING AREAS AROUND THE STORE, FULL....AND THE CITY
STREETS ON TWO SIDES, FULL OF CARS. AND INSIDE THE STORE, I WAS TOLD
YOU COULD HARDLY WALK.

HOPE YOU HAD A NICE THANKSGIVING! ABOUT 200 ATTENDED THE
COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER AT THE SENIOR CENTER HERE
IN MAQUOKETA. THAT WAS 50 MORE THAN LAST YEAR. ALSO,
THEY HAD 60 DELIVERIES. THEY USED 9 TURKEYS.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATES WEND DOWN IN AREA LAST MONTH. THE STATE OF IOWA'S REMAINED THE SAME, AT 6 PERCENT, COMPARED TO 6.2 A YEAR AGO.
JACKSON COUNTY JOBLESS RATE DROPPED A BIT TO 5.8 PERCENT IN OCTOBER COMPARED TO 6 PERCENT IN SEPTEMBER.
TWO MORE LONGTIME MAQUOKETA BUSINESS PLACES ARE CLOSING. MORE ON THAT LATER.

INCUMBENT LEGISLATURE BRIAN MOORE, REPUBLICAN FROM ZWINGLE,
HAS ANNOUNED HE WILL SEE RE-ELECTION TO THE IOWA HOUSE.
HE AND HIS WIFE KIM ARE PARENTS OF EIGHT CHILDREN AND
ONE GRANDSON.
THE DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE FOR THE SEAT IS FORMER REPRESENTATIVE,
TOM SCHUELLER OF MAQUOKETA, WHO ANNOUNCED EARLIER THIS MONTH.
MOORE DEFEATED SCHUELLER IN THE LAST ELECTION.

POLICE BLOTTER: JOE CAVEN ON NORTH JONES REPORTED THE WINDSHIELD
ON HIS VEHICLE WAS BROKEN BY SOMEONE.
JODI KOELLER REPORTED HITTING A DEER THURSDAY LATE AFTERNOON
ON HIGHWAY 52.

IS TOMORROW AT THE TWO HIGH SCHOOL GYMS. THE 3RD ANNUAL
ALUMNI VOLLEYBALL WILL BE THERE TOURNAMENT TOO. A CONCESSION
STAND WILL BE IN OPERATION.
