LOCK YOUR DOORS...EVEN WHEN YOU ARE HOME!!

THE MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST CLUB HONORED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AT A DINNER
MONDAY NIGHT AT THE EAGLES CLUB. THIS HAS BEEN AN ANNUAL BANQUET.
TWO VOLUNTEERS WERE HONORED BY THE OPTIMIST....FOR THEIR WORK IN THE
AREA OF MAINTENANCE AND TRAINING FOR THE DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE
AL MUHLHAUSEN AND JERRY BOWEN. KEITH AND SHERRY WUESTE FROM BRUSH
CREEK WINERY OF RURAL ANDREW WERE THE GUEST SPEAKERS AND THEY TALKED
ABOUT THEIR WINERY AND PROVIDED EVERYONE WITH FREE SAMPLES.

BRENT NUGENT WHO HAS OWNED AND OPERATED NUGENT AUTO SALES IN MAQUOKETA FOR MORE THAN 23 YEARS, HAS ASSUMED THE ROLE OF PRESIDENT OF THE IOWA
AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLERS. HIS LARGE OPERATION IS LOCATED IN THE AREA TO THE NORTH OF THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM AND INCLUDES A SALVAGE YARD. HE STARTED THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP IN 1988 AND ADDED THE SALVAGE YARD 10 YEARS LATER. HE NOW REBUILDS TRUCKS AND SELLS AUTO PARTS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. HE HAS 4 EMPLOYEES. GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM A STORY BY KELLY GERLACH IN THE MAQUOKETA SENTINEL-PRESS. CONGRATULATIONS TO BRENT
AND SHEILA ON THE GREAT BUSINESS THEY HAVE HERE IN TOWN AND TO
BRENT ON HIS STATE OFFICE.

BECAUSE OF HEALTH PROBLEMS, SAGE ROSENFELS WILL NOT BE A QUARTERBACK
WITH THE MIAMI DOLPHINS AFTER ALL. HE HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE TEAM'S NON-FOOTBALL ILLNESS LIST. A BLOOD DISORDER SENT SAGE TO THE HOSPITAL TWICE IN AUGUST AND EVEN THOUGH HE FELT BETTER RECENTLY, EVENTUALLY
RETURNING TO THE NFL WITH THE DOLPHINS, HE ACKNOWLEDGED HE HASN'T FULLY
RECOVERED. WHEN HE FIRST JOINED THE DOLPHINS, ALL TESTS SHOWED
THAT HE WAS HEALTHY AND READY TO GO. BUT AFTER PRACTICING FOR A FEW WEEKS,
ESPECIALLY IN THE HEAT, SOME NEW INDICATIONS MADE IT OBVIOUS, HE SAID,
THAT HE NEEDED REST TO ALLOW HIS BODY TO REGAIN HIS FULL STRENGTH.
HE WAS A QB FOR THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS, THEN THE IOWA STATE CYCLONES AND
THIS WAS HIS 11TH SEASON IN THE NFL. WE ALL LOOK FORWARD TO SAGE
PLAYING AGAIN IN THE 2011-2012 NFL SEASON.

AGAIN THIS YEAR, MAQUOKETA WILL HAVE A "TOYS FOR TOTS" DRIVE AND AGAIN
THIS YEAR, THE CHAIRMAN WILL BE RON SCHAEFER. FOR MORE INFORMATION,
CALL HIM AT 652-6065.

YESTERDAY, THE WEB SITE ADDRESS FOR ROBERT CHRISTENSEN'S PHOTO SITE
WAS NOT COMPLETE. IT IS:..www.listjacksoncountyia.com
CHECK IT OUT...LOTS OF NEW PHOTOS JUST PUT UP, AS I MENTIONED
YESTERDAY.

CEDAR RAPIDS. TOMORROW MORNING, I WILL HAVE THEIR SCORES HERE.
