HOT AGAIN TODAY, BUT THERE IS A BETTER BREEZE TODAY....
WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET CLOSE TO 100 TODAY, BUT INSTEAD, THE HIGH
WAS 96, A DEGREE LOWER THAN YESTERDAY.
TOMORROW, A HIGH OF 93 AND FRIDAY, LOOKING FOR A POSSIBLE HIGH
OF ONLY 89.
WE ARE AIRING SEVERAL PUBLIC SERVICE SPOTS FROM PUBLIC PLACES
THAT ARE STAYING OPEN...OR STAYING OPEN LONGER...THAT INVITE
PEOPLE TO COME IN AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR AIR-CONDITIONING.
WILL IT GET COOLER SOON? RIGHT NOW, THE FORECAST FOR MONDAY
IS FOR MOSTLY SUNNY AND HIGH OF 85. YES, LOOKS LIKE SOME RELIEF
IS COMING.
BEFORE I FORGET, THE PRESTON BOYS CAME FROM BEHIND LAST NIGHT
AND IN THE FINAL 7TH INNING, WON THEIR GAME ON A 3-RUN WALK-OFF
HOME RUN AND WON 5 TO 4. SO, THE PRESTON BOYS, LIKE THE PRESTON GIRLS, WILL BE IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT.....
THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW THAT BOTH TEAMS ARE STATE TOURNAMENT
TEAMS.

THE CITY COUNCIL MONDAY NIGHT AGREED TO SPEND AN ADDITIONAL
$2,250 TO PAY PAT CALLAHAN (FORMER MAQUOKETA CITY MANAGER) TO HELP
FIND A NEW PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY. THE FEE TO CALLAHAN
WILL NOW COME CLOSE TO $5,000. COUNCILMAN ED TURNEY ASKED
WHY THE MAQUOKETA CITY MANAGER COULD NOT DO THE HIRING AND SAVE THE MONEY. THERE WERE REASONS GIVEN, BUT TURNEY STILL VOTED
NO. I ALSO WOULD HAVE VOTED NO!
MAQUOKETA, IN 1936, HAD WARMER WEATHER THAN WE ARE HAVING
NOW...FOR OVER 10 DAYS. AND THEN, NO FANS OR AIR-CONDITIONERS!
IT WAS MAQUOKETA'S HOTEST SUMMER EVER!
GO AHEAD....RIGHT NOW....GET YOURSELF A COLD ONE FROM THE FRIG.
DENNIS VOY
The city council is full of brown nosers, they say one thing when it comes to being elected and when one the council they vote the way they the majority do.....I think we need to clean house and get a whole new council inclunding manager wagner....
ReplyDeleteI hear people, and Dennis included, say what they would do on the council, or what should be done and do nothing but criticize. If you have a better way of doing things, run for office. What's stopping you? Oh, you couldn't complain that way then. Run for council, contact your council man or women and express your view, otherwise stop complaining.
ReplyDeleteThey need to get rid of Wagner - he's a douche...
ReplyDeleteGood for Turney!
ReplyDeleteI agree--good for Turney!
ReplyDeleteI'd run but we need a good solid council with heads on their shoulders
