95 TODAY. BROKE THE 1963 RECORD OF 94
TOMORROW, NOT QUITE AS HOT...
AND COOLING OFF QUITE A BIT ON THURSDAY.

LAST NIGHT AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING, MAYOR JASON HUTE ANNOUNCED THAT HE WILL NOT SEEK ANOTHER TERM THIS FALL. HE WAS A COUNCILMAN
FOR 4 YEARS BEFORE BECOMING MAYOR 1 AND 1/2 YEARS AGO. HE CITED PERSONAL REASONS AND AFTER THE MEETING, SAID HE WANTED TO FOCUS ON
HIS FAMILY AND THINGS HE WAS DOING. HE SAID HE MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT
EARLY TO ALLOW POTENTIAL CANDIDATES TIME TO MAKE THEIR DECISION.

THERE ARE 3 FORMER MAYORS HERE AT KMAQ!

NO ONE VOLUNTEERED TO TAKE THE OPEN 2ND WARD COUNTIL SEAT, SO
THE COUNCIL HAS JUST TWO MORE WEEKS TO FIND A REPLACEMENT. CITY ATTORNY KEN WRIGHT SAID IF NO ONCE COMES FORTH, THE SEAT WILL REMAIN
VACANT UNTIL THE NOVEMBER ELECTION.

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER: KEITH BURNS AT 911 CARDINAL DRIVE REPORTED YESTERDAY THAT THE SIDE WINDOW OF HIS VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED.

GOV. TERRY BRANSTAD WILL BE MAKING A SHORT APPEARANCE IN MAQUOKETA
AT 10:30 TOMORROW MORNING....AT CITY HALL.

MARY HAYES, 82, OF DUBUQUE, DIED MONDAY AT MANOR CARE IN DUBUQUE.
THE FUNERAL WILL BE AT 10:30 FRIDAY MORNING. SURVIVORS INCLUDE
A DAUGHTER, SHEILA NUGENT IN MAQUOKETA.

DR. EDDIE ORTELL, LONGTIME MAQUOKETA AND CALIFORNIA PROFESSOR,
WILL GIVE A PROGRAM ON ASTRONOMY AT 7 P.M. TOMORROW NIGHT AT
THE COMFORT INN AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF MAQUOKETA. HE MAY WANT YOU TO TAKE HIS COURSE FOR $10. HE RECENTLY CELEBRATED HIS 92ND BIRTHDAY.
