PARTY SUNNY AND 60 THE HIGH TODAY!
A RURAL MAQUOKTA MAN, MIKE NICKESON, HAS BEEN HIRED AS THE NEW
MANAGER OF THE MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC UTILITY. HE WILL
START JUNE 1ST AND WILL REPLACE DOUG OWEN WHO IS RETIRING.
HE HAS BEEN WORKING AROUND 11 YEARS FOR ALLIANT ENERGY IN DUBUQUE.
THE MOST RECENT JOB WAS AS A FACILITIES MANAGER. HE IS A GRADUATE
OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTVILLE WITH A DEGREE IN
CIVIL ENGINEERING. HERE IN MAQUOKETA, HE IS A MEMBER OF THE HOSPITAL
BOARD. HIS WIFE IS THERESA AND THEY HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND LIVE ON THE
CAVES ROAD NORTHWEST OF MAQUOKETA.
THE GATEWAY AREA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS HELD ITS ANNUAL
MEETING MONDAY IN DEWITT. AT THE MEETING, THE MAQUOKETA YMCA
WAS GIVEN THE "GOOD NEIGHBOR" AWARD. THE RED CROSS OFFICE IS IN CLINTON AND SERVES BOTH JACKSON AND CLINTON COUNTY.
