THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD IS CONSIDERING INCREASING NEXT YEAR'S TAX RATE MORE THAN $1.00.
THIS WEEK, THE BOARD AGREED TO PUBLISH A BUDGET WHICH WILL INCLUDE
ABOUT $1.28 PER $1,000 ASSESSED VALUATION INCREASE. ONCE THE BUDGET
IS PUBLISHED, BOARD MEMBERS CAN REDUCE, BUT NOT INCREASE THE BUDGET.
THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WOULD GO FROM THE CURRENT $14.03 PER $1,000 ASSESSED
TO $15.31 PER $1,000.....WHICH IS A 9 PERCENT INCREASE.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL FINANCE COMMITTEE WILL MEET AT 7 A.M.
FRIDAY AT CITY HALL. AGENDA ITEMS: A DISCUSSION ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AND FUEL SURCHARGES. THE PACIFIC COAST FEATHER DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WILL BE REVIEWED. THE MEETING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

SAN DIEGO. AND WE'LL BE BROADCASTING CARDINAL GAMES FOR THE
