SNOW, SNOW AND MORE SNOW TODAY. STARTED WITH AN INCH DURING THE
NIGHT AND WE'VE ADDED ANOTHER GOOD 6 INCHES TODAY, AND IT
IS STILL SNOWING. WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO 40 INCHES SO FAR THIS
WINTER SEASON, STARTING BACK IN DECEMBER. 31 WAS OUR HIGH
TODAY. SNOW WILL END TONIGHT AND THE REST OF THE WORK WEEK IS GOING
TO BE COLD.

SCHOOL WAS DISMISSED AT 1 THIS AFTERNOON BECAUSE OF THE STORM.

THE PEACE PIPE PLAYERS COMMUNITY THEATRE GROUP HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THEY ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THEIR $500 PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP, OPEN TO ANY JACKSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR.

A NEW $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP HONORS THE MEMORY OF BETTY MARCUCCI.
IT IS OPEN TO A SENIOR AT MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL BETTY WAS A
MCHS 1953 GRADUATE. HER HUSBAND GRADUATED THE SAME YEAR IN MAQUOKETA AND FOR OVER 50 YEARS HAS OPERATED THE GIB MARCUCCI STABLES
WEST OF MONMOUTH. APPLICATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE MCHS
GUIDANCE OFFICE.

THE CARDINAL WRESTLERS TOOK PART IN THE DECORAH DUALS SATURDAY
AND WENT O FOR 4, LOOSING TO DECORAH, AUSTIN MINNESOTA, WESTERN
DUBUQUE AND SOUTH WINNESHIEK. TWIN BROTHERS SHILOH AND DAKOTA
SNYDER WENT 4 AND 0 FOR THE SEASON. SHILOH, AT 135 POUNDS, IS
22 AND 4 THIS SEASON AND DAKOTA, AT 140 POUNDS, HAS A SEASON RECORD
RIGHT NOW AT 22 AND 2.

THE CARDINAL BASKETBALL TEAMS, FRIDAY NIGHT: THE GIRLS BEAT DYERSVILLE
BECKMAN 54 TO 33, WITH DEVON O'CONNELL SCORING 13 POINTS.
THE BOYS AT DYERSVILLE, LOST 67 TO 50. CRAIG JOHNSON HAS 13 POINTS.
THE GIRLS ARE 7 AND 6 OVERALL AND THE BOYS ARE 4 AND 7 OVERALL.

READY TO LEAVE FOR TODAY, BUT FIRST MUST SWEEP SNOW OFF THE
CAR. YUP....IT'S GETTING TIRESOME. BUT, I STILL LIKE THE 4 SEASONS!

  1. While the snow is a bother, I like the four seasons, too. Spent some time out at Ft. Lewis (just southwest of Seattle) for Desert Storm, and it never got colder than forty degrees (compared to the minus ten around here when I took off in January) and the high temps were in the mid sixties the first week of June when I left. Neat place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
