MIDAS, THE CITY'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ARM, HAS LOANED DAC, INC.
$99,000 TO BUY THE FORMER ALDI'S BUILDING ON WEST PLATT IN MAQUOKETA.
DAC PLANS TO USE THE BUILDING FOR OFFICES FOR SOCIAL PROGRAMS.

WE LEARNED TODAY THAT THE NEW GOODWILL STORE WILL OPEN APRIL 1ST
IN THE FORMER FAREWAY STORE IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA.

MARK BECK WAS RE-ELECTED MAQUOKETA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
CHIEF DURING THE ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT AT THE FIRE STATION.
BECK WILL START HIS 14TH YEAR AS CHIEF. HE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR 25 YEARS. BECK SAID HE WILL RE-APPOINT
HIS CURRENT SLATE OF OFFICERS. THEY ARE: AL MUHLHAUSEN, ASSISTANT
CHIEF....BRENT PAULS, DEPUTY CHIEF....JIM CONNOLLY, PETE SCHUELLER AND
CRAIG MUHLHAUSEN, CAPTAINS....MATT TRANEL, LIEUTENANT.....BOB LANE JR., SAFETY OFFICER..... AND JEFF MORITZ, TRAINING OFFICER.
ALSO, DAVE NEWMAN WAS ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF THE MAQUOKETA FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION WITH MATT TRAVEL, TREASURER AND BJORN BECK SECRETARY.
CHIEF BECK SAID HE HAS NO MAJOR PLANS OR CHANGES FOR 2011.

IN HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING LAST NIGHT AT DYERSVILLE, MAQUOKETA DEFEATED DYERSVILLE BUT LOST TO WEST DELAWARE.

TONIGHT, IN BASKETBALL, THE CARDINAL BOYS HOST WESTERN DUBUQUE AND
THE GIRLS PLAY WESTERN DUBUQUE UP IN EPWORTH. THE GIRLS GAME WILL
BE BROADCAST BY MATT CLARK ON KMAQ-FM AND ON OUR WEB SITE STARTING
AROUND 7:30.
