MUCH NICER DAY TODAY....COOLER AND LESS HUMID. HIGH OF 82.
THE WEEKEND FORECAST LOOKS GOOD.
THERE WILL BE A CONTESTED RACE AFTERALL THIS FALL FOR THE STATE REPRESENTATIVE SEAT IN THIS AREA. BRIAN MOORE SAID TODAY HE HAS
SWITCHED PARTIES FROM DEMOCRAT TO REPUBLICAN AND WILL CHALLENGE
DEMOCRAT TOM SCHUELLER FOR THE DISTRICT 25 SEAT. MOORE RAN AS A DEMOCRAT DURING THE PRIMARY FOR STATE SENATE AND TOD BOWMAN OF MAQUOKETA WON THAT 4-WAY RACE. MOORE IS FROM RURAL ZWINGLE.
THE JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD HAS CLOSED DOWN CAMPING
IN JOINERVILLE PARK WEST OF MAQUOKETA BECAUSE OF VANDALISM.
IT HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR CAMPING THE REST OF THE SEASON BUT THE BOAT
RAMP WILL REMAIN OPEN. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO VANDALISM INCIDENTS
THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE PORT-A-POTTY AT THE SITE WAS BURNED AND THEN A SECOND ONE TURNED UP MISSING.
HAPPY THURSDAY.
