HUMID AND 80 TODAY. WE HAD A LIGHT SHOWER TODAY. RAIN IN FORECAST TONIGHT AND TOMORROW AND THEN NICE FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE ASKED ME TO BE A FRIEND ON FACEBOOK.
I THANK THEM BUT I HAVE DECIDED TO STAY OFF FACEBOOK FOR
NOW AS I JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME FOR MORE INTERNET ACTIVITY.

DR. PETE ATIENZA HAD A HOLE-IN-ONE IN JUNE, PLAYING WITH HIS
SON DR. BUDDY AND ANOTHER DOCTOR IN THE QUAD CITIES. IT WAS AT THE
PALMER HILLS COURSE IN BETTENDORF....USING A 5 IRON ON THE 160 YARD
17TH HOLE. HE FINISHED WITH A 84 FOR THE 18 HOLES.
IT WAS HIS SECOND. IN 1989, HE HAD ONE AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY
CLUB ON THE 9TH HOLE. DR. PETE, MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL SURGEON,
HAS BEEN AN AVID GOLFER SINCE COMING TO MAQUOKETA FROM THE PHILLIPINES 42 YEARS AGO WHEN BUDDY WAS 6 MONTHS OLD.
PETE PLANS TO RETIRE AS SOON AS THE HOSPITAL GETS ANOTHER SURGEON.

THE JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS AT THEIR MEETING YESTERDAY OPENED BIDS FOR ELECTRICAL WORK AT THE COURTHOUSE IN MAQUOKETA.
THE LOW BIDDER WAS TRENKAMP ELECTRIC IN PRESTON WITH A BID
OF $87,850. THE ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE WAS $110,000. THERE
WERE 6 BIDS IN ALL, THE HIGHEST BEING $138,000.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE FOR JANET STEINES, AGE 60, OF SPRINGBROOK,
WHO DIED AFTER THE PARADE ACCIDENT SUNDAY, WILL BE AT 10:30
FRIDAY MORNING AT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN SPRINGBROOK.
SHE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THAT CHURCH AND ORGANIST TOO.
SHE WAS A HOMEMAKER AND HELPED HER HUSBAND IN ALL OF THEIR
FARMING OPERATIONS. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, TWO SONS, TWO GRANDCHILDREN (WHO WERE IN THE BUGGY WITH HER), HER PARENTS ARLENE AND MILO FELLER OF PRESTON, TWO BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

JACK ROSENBERG OF MAQUOKETA, WILL CELEBRATE HIS 67TH BIRTHDAY FRIDAY. HE IS RETIRED.

TAKE IT EASY.
