THREE PEOPLE WERE CHARGED AFTER MAQUOKETA POLICE OFFICERS FOUND AROUND 36 YOUTH AT A BEER PARTY SATURDAY NIGHT AT 1003 W. FARMLAND,
MAQUOKETA. POLICE CHIEF BRAD KORANDA SAID 18 YEAR OLD MEGAN LANGE AND 20 YEAR OLD ANDREW LANGE BOTH OF THE ABOVE ADDRESS WERE CHARGED WITH MAKING ALCOHOL AVAILABLE TO UNDERAGE YOUTH. ANOTHER PERSON AT THE PARTY, 18 YEAR OLD NATHAN DOWNS OF MAQUOKETA WAS CHARGED WITH HARRASSMENT OF A PUBLIC OFFICIAL. DOWNS GAVE THE OFFICER A FALSE NAME.
THE YOUTH WERE ALL RELEASED TO THEIR PARENTS AND MAQUOKETA SCHOOL
OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED CONCERNING THOSE YOUTH IN THE INCIDENT THAT TESTED POSITIVE FOR ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION. NO OTHER CHARGES, OTHER THAN THE 3 ABOVE, WERE FILED.
CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT AND QUITE A FEW THINGS ON THE AGENDA, INCLUDING THE CLEAN-UP OF THE FIRE MESS DOWNTOWN.
JACKSON COUNTY CHEIF DEPUTY ED CLARK OF MAQUOKETA HIT A DEER WITH HIS SQUAD CAR EARLY THIS MORNING ON HIGHWAY 62. MINOR DAMAGE.
MICHELLE SCOTT ALSO REPORTED HITTING A DEAR OVER THE WEEKEND,
ON THE IRON BRIDGE ROAD.
JEANNETTE RONNFELDT, AGE 91, OF MILES, DIED SATURDAY AT CLOVER RIDGE
ASSISTED LIVING CENTER IN MAQUOKETA. SHE WAS THE POSTMASTER AT MILES FOR 41 YEARS. HER FUNERAL WILL BE WEDNESDAY MORNING AT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN PRESTON. SURVIVORS INCLUDE THREE SONS, INCLUDING
GENE AND ALLEN IN MAQUOKETA, AND A DAUGHTER IN ILLINOIS.
