WE JUST HAS A  COLD WEEKEND TO START OFF THE NEW  YEAR.

AND COLD WEATHER IS FORECAST FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK.

THANK GOODNESS FOR SUNSHINE.

TODAY WAS "BACK TO SCHOOL" DAY.

THE JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATED FIVE ACCIDENTS
OVER THE WEEKEND.    NONE WITH SERIOUS INJURIES.
JUST ONE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A MAQUOKETA RESIDENT.     JOSHUA IHRIG,
AGE 28, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS IN A ONE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT 4:10 YESTERDAY MORNING 7 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ZWINGLE.     HE HIT ICE, SLID INTO A DITCH AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT.   THE 2007 DODGE RAM, REGISTERED TO JAMES
BAKAZON OF ZWINGLE, WAS A TOTAL LOSS.    CHARGES ARE PENDING.

THE EXQUISITE DRESS EXCHANGE SPONSORED BY THE MAQUOKETA KIWANIS
CLUB  IS OFF TO  A BIG START.   MORE THAN 250 FANCY (LIKE NEW) PROM DRESSES
WILL BE ON SALE SATURDAY FROM 9 AM UNTIL NOON AT THE COMFORT INN
AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF MAQUOKETA.     SHOES, PURSES AND JEWELRY WILL ALSO BE SOLD.     FOUR COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICTS  HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN SECURING THE PARTY DRESSES....MAQUOKETA, WYOMING MIDLAND, ANDREW AND PRESTON.     SIZES FROM ZERO TO 22.     THE DRESSES HAVE BEEN CLEANED AND HANGING ON A HANGAR.  THE TAG ON EACH DRESS  WILL LIST THE ORIGINAL PRICE AND THE SELLING PRICE.   THE SELLER KEEPS 80% AND THE REST GOES TO THE
KIWANIS CLUB "AFTER PROM" COMMITTEE.     PURSES, SHOES AND JEWELRY ARE A 50-50 SPLIT.    THE SELLER'S IDENITY WILL BE KEPT PRIVATE.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT AT 7.    NEW MAYOR JASON HUTE
WILL START OFF THE MEETING WITH THE ANNUAL "STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS".

IT WON'T BE LONG AND THE NEW STOP AND GO LIGHTS AT WESTGATE
DRIVE, COMING OUT OF THE AREA THAT INCLUDES THE FAREWAY STORE,
WILL BE IN OPERATION ON WEST PLATT.     BAD WEATHER HAS DELAYED THE
COMPLETION DATE.

THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER STILL HAS A DEBT OF $25,000.    A DRIVE
TO PAY OFF THE LOAN WILL BE HELD THIS MONTH.     ED TUBBS WILL
MATCH ALL  DONATIONS  UP TO  $12,500.     IN OTHER WORDS,
THE GOAL OF $25,000 WILL BE REACHED AS SOON AS $12,500 HAS BEEN
DONATED AND ED GIVES HIS MATCH.    

RADIO BINGO STARTS SOON HERE AT KMAQ.    AND..THE ANNUAL KMAQ FARM AND
HOME SHOW IS IN EARLY FEBRUARY.
