IT WAS FOGGY THIS MORNING...AND WET FROM LIGHT DRIZZLE.    REST OF TODAY,
CLOUDY.    JUST OVER 32 DEGEES THROUGHOUT THE DAY.    COLD WEATHER
COMING TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.    

MAQUOKETA NATIVE LARRY ZIRKELBACH, WHO LEFT HIS POSITION AS
PARK RANGER AT THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK THIS PAST SUMMER,
IS NOW A RANGER IN ARIZONA, IN THE PRESCOTT VALLEY.     LIKES IT DOWN THERE.
GOT AN EMAIL FROM HIM SAYING TEMPS IN ARIZONA HAVE BEEN LOWER THAN NORMAL, BUT STILL NOT BAD, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING  ABOUT MAQUOKETA WEATHER ON THIS DAILY REPORT.    SAID THEY EVEN GOT AN INCH OF SNOW LAST
WEEK, BUT IT DIDN'T LAST LONG.     LARRY,  GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAVE JOINED THE GROUP THAT READS THIS REPORT REGULARLY.    ANYONE WANTING  LARRY'S EMAIL

ON THE POLICE BLOTTER:    KJ'S CONVENIENCE REPORTED A $57.33 GASOLENE
DRIVE-OFF WITHOUT PAYING SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
DAVE NEUMAN REPORTED HIS FRONT FIRE FIGHTER PLATES WERE STOLEN
SATURDAY EVENING.
WHITNEY MEDINGER REPORTED HITTING A DEER LAST NIGHT ON HIGHWAY 52.
AN ATV ROLLOVER WAS REPORTED SATURDAY AFTERNOON IN PETER'S BOTTOM ON 345TH AVENUE AND NICK MEYER OF MAQUOKETA RECEIVED AN INJURY IN THAT
ACCIDENT.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL AT 5 TOMORROW AFTERNOON
TO DISCUSS THE FIRE MESS DOWNTOWN.    THEY WILL SET A PUBLIC HEARING
FOR THE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND FORM OF CONTRACT FOR THE FIRE CLEANUP PROJECT.

MAQUOKETA TOOK SECOND PLACE BEHIND MONTICELLO IN THE ZIMMERMAN
WRESTLING TOURNAMENT FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE MCHS GYM.     CHAMPIONS
FOR MAQUOKETA WERE SHILO SNYDER, TIM O'CONNELL, THOMAS MAYBERRY,
AND JOSH HOLTZ.       NEXT ACTION THIS THURSDAY NIGHT, HERE.   A DOUBLE-DUAL
AGAINST MOUNT VERNON AND WESTERN DUBUQUE.

IN GIRL'S BASKETBALL FRIDAY NIGHT, MAQUOKETA LOST TO WEST DELAWARE, AT MANCHESTER.    THE CARDINAL GIRLS ARE NOW 3 AND  2 OVERALL AND 2 AND 2
IN THE LEAGUE AND PLAY AT ANAMOSA TOMORROW NIGHT.
THE CARDINAL BOYS BEAT WEST DELAWARE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND
ARE NOW 3 AND 1 OVERALL AND 3 AND 0 IN THE WAMAC.    COLIN NICKESON
HAD 15 POINTS AND TYLER RUTENBECK 14.    THE CARDINAL BOYS HOST
ANAMOSA TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE CHARLES MORRIS ART EXHIBIT IS RUNNING NOW THROUGH JANUARY AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER DREW ART GALLERY IN MAQUOKETA.
MORRIS IS THE HUSBAND OF MAQUOKETA ARTIST ROSE FRANTZEN.
ADMISSION TO THE GALLERY IS FREE.   THE GALLERY IS OPEN MONDAY THROUGH
FRIDAY FROM 9 A.M. UNTIL 1 P.M.    THERE WILL BE A CLOSING RECEPTION IN HIS HONOR FROM 4 UNTIL 7 P.M. ON JANUARY 30TH.
ALSO FREE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, THE OHNWARD 5TH ANNIVERSARY HOLIDAY
CONCERT STARTING AT 7:30.

THE MAQUOKETA ATHLETIC BOOSTERS HAVE MADE THE FINAL PAYMENT
FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL WEIGHT ROOM EQUIPMENT.     NOW, THEY HAVE A NEW PROJECT.   THE ORGANIZATION HAS VOTED TO DONATE NEW BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SCOREBOARDS  TO THE TWO DIAMONGS NEAR THE HIGH SCHOOL.
THE OLD ARE BOTH IN BAD CONDITON.    THE GET THE PROJECT STARTED, ALLIANT ENERGY FOUNDATION AWARDED THE BOOSTERS A $500 GRANT.
