BONNIE MITCHELL, LOOKING HAPPY AT THE END OF LAST NIGHT'S SOUP SUPPER
AND BASKET AUCTION. SHE IS THE CURATOR OF THE JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY. THE TOP AUCTION ITEM WAS THE DRIFTWOOD MANGER MADE BY JEAN BUCHNER OF MAQUOKETA. WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE THIS
PHOTO, JEAN HAD ALREADY LEFT FOR HOME. THE MANGER BROUGHT $100 AND WAS PURCHASED BY VIVIAN RIVER. SHE HAD SOMEONE PRESENT BID ON IT FOR HER AND THAT IS WHY SHE ALSO IS NOT IN THIS PHOTO. SHE GOT A BARGAIN. JEAN HAS MADE MANY OF THESE FOR THE AUCTION OVER THE YEARS, AND THIS YEAR, IT WAS PROBABLY HER BEST. IT TAKES LOTS OF HOURS TO MAKE ONE. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. I BOUGHT ONE AT THE AUCTION ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO AND GET LOTS OF NICE COMMENTS. THANK YOU JEAN. HOPE YOU CAN
MAKE ANOTHER ONE NEXT YEAR. I'M SURE VIVIAN AND ROSS WILL ALSO
TREASURE IT EVERY CHRISTMAS. BONNIE SAYS THE SOUP SUPPER BROUGHT IN $873.00 WHICH WAS AHEAD OF LAST YEAR. THE BASKET AUCTION NETTED
$1,456.50 AND A LITTLE BELOW LAST YEAR. THE PROFIT FROM THE SUPPER WILL BE PUT TOWARD A TRACTOR WITH A MOWING DECK AND FRONT-MOUNTED SNOW BLOWER. THE MONEY FROM THE AUCTION WILL GO TO THE GENERAL OPERATING
FUND. SAYS BONNIE...."A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED, ATTENDED, AND HELPED IN ANY WAY TO MAKE THE EVENT ANOTHER BIG SUCCESS".
