THE NEW ABA PRO TEAM, THE KANSAS CITY STARS OPENED THE SEASON
AT KANSAS CITY SATURDAY NIGHT WITH A CONVINCING 152 TO 106 WIN
OVER THE ST. LOUSE STUNNERS. ADAM HEPKER, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA,
PLAYED ABOUT 20 MINUTES IN THE 48-MINUTE GAME. THEY WILL BE AT HOME AGAIN THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT.
THE ALUMIN BASKETBALL TURNAMENT SATURDAY WAS A SUCCESS, AS WAS
THE FIRST VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT. THE 1987 THRU 1989 MEN'S TEAM WON
THE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AND THE CLASS OF 2008 WON THE LADIES
VOLLEYBAL TOURNAMENT.
9-YEAR-OLD PARKER SCHUELLER, SON OF PETE SCHUELLER AND WENDY SCHUELLER OF MAQUOKETA, WAS HIT BY A CAR SHORTLY AFTER 8 THIS
MORNING ON WEST SUMMIT STREET AND WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL AND THEN AIRLIFTED TO UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS IN IOWA CITY. HIS CONDITION
IS NOT AVAILABLE. HE RAN INTO THE STREET AND WAS HIT BY A CAR DRIVEN
BY STACIE WALKER, 18, OF MAQUOKETA, WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP
IN TIME AND HIT THE BOY WITH THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE CAR AND THE BUMPER.
NO CHARGES WERE FILED.
THE KMAQ TRAVEL BUS IS OFF TO BRANSON EARLY TOMORROW MORNING...
SO MY NEXT REPORT WILL PROBABLY BE THIS SATURDAY.
