JOHN PORTER OF MAQUOKETA, GUIDING
IT INTO THE SMALL BUILDING OUT AT THE
BASE OF OUR TOWER AT BRIDGEPORT,
JUST NORTHEAST OF MAQUOKETA A COUPLE
MILES.     BRIDGEPORT  WAS ONCE A PLOTTED
CITY AND HAD A ONE-ROOM SCHOOL AND
STILL HAS A CEMETERY.   JONN, NOW A
RETIRED ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN WHO
WORKED FOR THE STATE, WAS KMAQ'S
CHIEF ENGINEER IN THE  60'S WHEN KMAQ-
FM FIRST WENT ON-THE-AIR IN 1967.
JOHN'S MOTHER, BY THE WAY, WAS WELL
KNOWN IN MAQUOKETA AS SHE WROTE
FOR THE MAQUOKETA NEWSPAPER.
HER NAME WAS GLEE PORTER.
