THE MAQUOKETA STATE BANK ALL WEEK LONG IS HAVING A DRIVE FOR
THE JACKSON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY. DOG AND CAT FOOD AND OTHER PET SUPPLIES ARE BEING COLLECTED AT THE BANK. THIS FRIDAY, THE EMPLOYEES
INVITE THE PUBLIC TO HAVE LUNCH WITH THEM IN THE MSB NORTH PARKING
LOT FROM 11 AM UNTIL 1 PM. BRATS, BURGERS, CHIPS AND POP. FREE WILL
OFFERING AND ALL PROCEEDS TO THE SOCIETY.

CLUB HOPE, A CLUB FORMED LAST YEAR AT THE HIGH SCHOOL (PUSHED BY OPRAH)
TO HELP CITIZENS OF KENYA, HAS BEEN DOING FUND RAISERS SO THAT 19
MEMBERS AND 5 CHAPERONES CAN TAKE A TRIP TO THE COUNTRY NEXT JULY
TO HELP BUILD A SCHOOL. BUT, THE MAQUOKETA SCHOOL BOARD ISN'T SURE THEY WILL APPROVE THE TRIP. THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE ISSUE ABOUT 90 MINUTES LAST NIGHT AND DIDN'T COME TO A DECISION. SAFETY IS THE
MAIN CONERN.

THE BOARD OFSUPERVISORS ARE NOT SURE THEY WANT TO ABATE THE TAXES
ON A BUILDING DAC, INC. OWNS IN MAQUOKETA. OVER $8,000, DUE SEPT. 30TH.
THIS MORNING, THEY POSTPONED THEIR DECISION AGAIN. THEY ARE AFRAID
OF ESTABLISHING A PRECEDENT. DAC PAYS NO TAXES ON SOME BUILDINGS
BUT DOES PAY ON THE ADAC BUILDING WHICH MANUFACTURES ITEMS FOR A PROFIT. DAC SAYS THE DANCE CLASSES IN THE BUILDING IN QUESTION DO NOT PROVIDE DAC A PROFIT. DAC SAYS IT REALLY SHOULD HAVE ASKED THAT THE BUILDING BE EXEMPT WHEN THEY COMPLETED THE BUILDING SEVERAL YEARS AGO.

PIONEER DAY IS THIS SUNDAY FROM 10 A.M. UNTIL 4 P.M. AT THE FAIRGROUNDS.
$4 ADMISSION AND MANY EVENTS WILL BE TAKING PLACE ALL DAY.

FUND RAISER. PIONEER STEW WILL BE SERVED IN BOYER HALL AT A NOMINAL COST, PLUS THERE WILL BE ANOTHER CONCESSSION STAND. PONY RIDES
FOR THE KIDS FOR $3. OR $5 IF THEY GET THEIR PICTURE TAKEN WITH THE PONY.
THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM WILL BE OPEN AS USUAL SUNDAY.

LODGE AT BELLEVUE STATE PARK, STARTING AT 5 P.M. SPOUSES ARE VERY MUCH INVITED.

MAQUOKETA HOSTS BENTON FRIDAY NIGHT AT GOODENOW FIELD. MAQUOKETA IS 3 AND 0 AND BENTON ALSO HAS A GOOD TEAM. GO CARDINALS.
