WHO IS THIS FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT? THIS IS A 1942 PHOTO WHEN HE WAS HOME ON LEAVE IN MAQUOKETA, AFTER THE U.S. INVASION OF NORTH AFRICA AT FADALA, NEAR CASABLANCA. HE WAS A RADIO OPERATOR-TECHNICIAN DURING WWII. FOLLOWING THE NORTH AFRICA INVASION, HE MADE OTHERS AT SICILY, ITALY, AND FRANCE. HIS LAST INVASION WAS OF OKINAWA ON EASTER SUNDAY, 1945 WHERE A JAPANESE SUICIDE BOMBER BARELY MISSED HIS OUTFIT.
