WE GOT 3 INCHES OF SNOW FRIDAY NIGHT, BUT MOST OF IT QUICKLY DISAPPEARED SATURDAY, A SUNNY DAY. TODAY, SUNNY AND IN MID 20'S.

FRIDAY NIGHT, MAQUOKETA DEFEATED WILLIAMSBURG IN BOYS BASKETBALL , 60 TO 57, IN A WAMAC GAME HERE IN MAQUOKETA.

SATURDAY, ALL 4 MAQUOKETA WRESTLERS WON AND WILL GO TO THE STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT NEXT WEEKEND. CONGRATULATIONS TO TIM O'CONNELL, RYAN FLAGEL, THOMAS MAYBERRY AND LARRY EGGERS.
OF THE 4, MAYBERRY WAS THE CHAMPION AT 160 AND THE OTHER 3 WERE RUNNER-UPS, BUT STILL GO TO STATE. ALL 4 ARE JUNIORS. DR. PAUL KOOB
WILL BE IN DES MOINES TO BROADCAST THEIR MATCHES FOR KMAQ AGAIN.
TWO WRESTLERS WILL BE AT STATE FROM DEWITT, QUINN KLINEFELTER AND
CASEY KREITER, BUT WERE RUNNER-UP WINNERS AND BOTH ARE SENIORS.
ALSO GOING TO STATE FROM OUR AREA, IN 2A, JAAAMES KOST OF NORTH CEDAR STANWOOD AND BRIAN HOFFMANN OF NORTHEAST GOOSE LAKE, WHO WAS A CHAMPION YESTERDAY AT 171 POUNDS.

LOWEL CARLSON, WHO LIVES NORTH OF MAQUOKETA, RECEIVED THE MASTER
EDITOR-PUBLISHER AWARD FEBRUARY 6TH AT THE ANNUAL IOWA NEWSPAPER ASSOCIATION CONVENTION IN DES MOINES. A HIGH HONER FOR A GOOD FRIEND,
AND EDITOR OF THE BELLEVUE-HERALD LEADER. HE STARTED AT THE MAQUOKETA NEWSPAPER AS NEWS EDITOR IN 1976 AND IN 1980 JOINED THE BELLEVUE PAPER AND HAS BEEN THERE EVER SINCE. CONGRATULATIONS TO LOWELL! A WELL DESERVED HONOR!

JERRY AND DOROTHY RASMUSSEN ARE LEAVING MAQUOKETA AND ARE MOVING TO WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON. THAT CITY OF 35,000 IS WHERE THEIR SON PHIL AND HIS WIFE LIVE. PHIL IS RETIRED FROM ALCOA. JERRY RETIRED OVER 25 YEARS AGO WHEN HE SOLD THE RASMUSSEN MOTORS DEALERSHIP TO BRAD DEERY.
HE HAS BEEN A CONSULTANT FOR BRAD MOST OF THE YEARS. HE OWNED THE RASMUSSEN GM DEALERSHIP FOR MANY YEARS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HIS LATE
BROTHER, RAY. AND THE BUSINESS WAS STARTED BY THEIR FATHER.
HE HAS WRITTEN TWO BOOKS ABOUT MAQUOKETA AND DID A SERIES OF LOCAL ACCESS TV SHOWS ABOUT THE TIMBER CITY. HE HAS BEEN IN MY COFFEE GROUP FOR A LOT OF YEARS AND WE AND THE COMMUNITY WILL MISS HIM WHEN THEY
MOVE IN LATE MARCH. THEIR CONDO OVERLOOKING THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB IS FOR SALE. JERRY HAS BEEN A LONGTIME GOLFER. THEY ARE IN THEIR LATE 8O'S BUT STILL ATTEND MANY FUNCTIONS TOGETHER IN TOWN.
YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAD A FAREWELL RECEPTION FOR THEM AT THE MUSEUM ON THE FAIRGROUNDS. HERE'S WISHING JERRY AND DOROTHY MANY MORE HAPPY YEARS OUT WEST.

A BIRTH: CORY AND AMY ROBINSON OF MT. VERNON, ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN LAST MONDAY MORNING AT HER HOME. THE BABY WAS DELIVERED BY TWO
MT. VERNON POLICE OFFICERS BEFORE BEING TAKEN TO ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL
IN CEDAR RAPIDS. PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER IS GEORGIA ROBINSON OF
MAQUOKETA AND DAUGHTER OF GEORGE AND SOPHIA PETAROS WHO STARTED THE GREEN MILL OVER 50 YEARS AGO DOWNTOWN.
