THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA HAS BEEN TOLD IT WILL LIKELY RECEIVE TWO OF THE THREE GRANTS IT APPLIED FOR TO CLEAN-UP THE FIRE DEBRIS IN DOWNTOWN MAQUOKETA. THE TWO WILL TOTAL $110,000. $340,000 IS NEEDED.
IT WILL SOON BE 13 MONTHS FROM DAY OF FIRE.
JACKSON COUNTY WILL BE APPLYING FOR MORE THAN $500,000 IN FEDERAL STIMULUS MONEY TO RESURFACE TWO ROADS.......D57 FROM HIGHWAY 61 TO LAMOTTE AND THE HURSTVILLE ROAD FROM THE CITY OF MAQUOKETA TO HIGHWAY 61. JACKSON COUNTY ENGINEER CLARK SCHLOZ SAID THERE IS $561,000 AVAILABLE TO THE COUNTY IN STIMULUS MONEY.
