SUNNY, BREEZY AND MATCHED RECORD HIGH OF 72 TODAY. NICE DAY FOR AN ELECTION.

POLLING PLACES IN JACKSON COUNTY REPORTED EVERYTHING IS GOING SMOOTHLY IN TODAY'S GENERAL ELECTION. THERE HAS BEEN A STEADY FLOW OF VOTERS.
JACKSON COUNTY HAD A RECORD 4,074 PEOPLE VOTE EARLY. THERE ARE 14,955 REGISTERED VOTERS IN THE COUNTY, MEANING ABOUT 27 PERCENT HAD ALREADY VOTED BY THE TIME THE POLLS OPENED AT 7 A.M. THE POLLS WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL 9 TONIGHT. WE WILL HAVE LOCAL ELECTION COVERAGE JUST AFTER 9 ON BOTH KMAQ AM AND FM...AND ON INTERNET, ON THE KMAQ PAGE.

WORD HAS BEEN RECEIVED OF THE DEATH OF FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT RICHARD "DICK" TEMPLETON. HE DIED IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON OVER THE WEEKEND. HE LIVED IN PUYALLUP, NEAR SEATTLE. HE GRADUATED FROM MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL AND WORKED FOR THE GOVERNMENT. HE IS SURVIVED LOCALLY BY A SISTER, HELEN TRABERT OF MAQUOKETA, AND ALSO A TWIN BROTHER, BOB, IN INDIANA AND A STEP-DAUGHTER IN TEXAS. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD IN WASHINGTON.
