A COLD (IN 50'S) AND RAINY DAY TODAY, FOLLOWING A NICE WEEKEND.

SORRY I HAD UPLOADING PROBLEMS OVER THE WEEKEND WITH THIS REPORT.
OF ALL TIMES TO FAIL ME, WITH THE FIREMEN'S CONVENTION IN TOWN.'

THE STATE FIREMEN'S CONVENTION WAS A GREAT SUCCESS. LOTS OF PEOPLE STOPPED OVER AT FIRST WARD PARK FRIDAY AND SATURDAY TO WATCH
THE FIREMEN COMPETE IN GAMES. A GOOD TURN OUT SATURDAY NIGHT FOR THE PARADE. SUNDAY MORNING, MANY WENT TO THE BUSINESS MEETING AND OTHERS TOOK OFF FOR HOME STARTING EARLY IN MORNING. BY NOON, MOST HAD LEFT TOWN. NEXT YEAR, IT WILL BE AT DYERSVILLE AND IN 2010, PERRY.
THE ASSOCIATION HAS OVER 50,000 MEMBERS. OVER 2,000 ATTENDED THE CONVENTION HERE, A VERY GOOD TURNOUT. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MAQUOKETA FIREMEN AND THEIR SPOUSES FOR A JOB WELL DONE!! THANK YOU!!

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS LOST TO WAUKON AT GOODENOW FIELD FRIDAY NIGHT, 14 TO 10. THE CARDINALS WERE DRIVING FOR ANOTHER TD WHEN TIME RAN OUT.

TOMORROW IS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION DAY IN IOWA. JACKSON COUNTY POLLING PLACES WILL BE OPEN FROM NOON UNTIL 8 P.M. VOTING WILL TAKE
