NICE DAY AGAIN...HIGH IN UPPER 70'S. THE FORECAST IS GOOD FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK AND WEEKEND.

PRESTON, EAST CENTRAL(MILES AND SABULA) AND NORTHEAST(GOOSE LAKE) SCHOOL DISTRICTS START SCHOOL TOMORROW. MAQUOKETA STARTS SCHOOL
MONDAY.

THE PEACE PIPE PLAYERS ARE PUTTING ON THEIR NEXT PLAY SEPTEMBER 26 AND 27
AT THE BEAR CREEK LODGE (FORMER KFC BUILDING) IN MAQUOKETA. IT WILL
BE A DINNER-THEATRE. AUDITIONS FOR THE MURDER-MYSTERY WILL BE THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE OLD RACQUETBALL CLUB SOUTH OF HAPPY JOES.
THAT BUILDING, BY THE WAY, IS NOW FOR SALE. THE CAST CALLS FOR FOUR MALES AND THREE FEMALES AND THEY WILL BE DIRECTED BY SHARON GOETTLER (563-652-2338). TICKETS FOR "OVER MY DEAD BODY" WILL BE $25 AND THERE WILL BE LIMITED SEATING BECAUSE THE LODGE IS SMALL. ORDER TICKETS NOW FROM SHARON AT THE ABOVE NUMBER AND AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT.

AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MONDAY NIGHT, THE BOARD HIRED KAY WIRTH OF MAQUOKETA AS THE NEW THIRD GRADE TEACHER AT BRIGG'S ELEMENTARY TO REPLACE JOAN BOLLMAN WHO WAS NAMED CARDINAL ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL.
THERE WERE 77 APPLICANTS. ALSO HIRED, TOD BOWMAN AS VARSITY GIRL'S GOLF COACH AND SCOTT JESS AS CO-ED HEAD CROSS COUNTRY COACH. ALSO, CRAIG BURKEN WAS HIRED TO BE WELDING INSTRUCTOR EVERY OTHER DAY IN MAQUOKETA. HE REPLACES JOHN MANSON WHO RETIRED.

A BIG FUSE BLEW OUT IN MAQUOKETA ABOUT 10 THIS MORNING AND ELECTRICTY WAS OUT AT SCATTERED AREAS OF THE CITY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR.
