MORE CLOUDY THAN SUNNY TODAY AND A HIGH OF 55.
TOMORROW, MOSTLY SUNNY AND AGAIN A HIGH IN MID 50'S.
GOT AN EMAIL FROM ROGER AND MARILYN SCHRUNK, FORMER MAQUOKETANS, WHO HAVE LIVED IN CALIFORNIA SINCE THE EARLY 80'S. THEIR HOME AT LAKE FOREST, CALIFORNIA, IS LESS THAN A HALF-MILE FROM THE NEAREST BLAZE DURING THE WILD FIRES IN THE SAN DIEGO AREA. TOO CLOSE TO COMFORT WAS THEIR COMMENT. WHEN IN MAQUOKETA, ROGER WORKED IN THE HOSPITAL LAB AND MARILYN OWNED A LADIES CLOTHING STORE. GLAD THEY ESCAPED THE FIRE DAMAGE.
THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL IS THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING THE FORMER B-CAP PROPERTY AT THE AIRPORT.
IT WILL DISCUSS THE MATTER AT THE NEXT MEETING MONDAY NIGHT. THE PROPERTY WOULD BE USED AS A TURF RUNWAY AND HANGAR SPACE COULD BE SOLD FOR AN AVIATION RELATED BUSINESS AT THE AIRPORT.
AROUND 700 ENJOYED A NICE CONCERT LAST NIGHT AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER OF THE VIENNA BOYS CHOIR.
LATED NEARLY 2 HOURS. GOOD TURNOUT.
BARBARA L. WIDEL, AGE 70, DIED YESTERDAY AT FINLEY HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE. THE FULL OBITURARY IS AT
