CLOUDY DAY TODAY...HIGH MID 50'S.

MAQUOKETA DEFEATED CLEAR CREEK AMANA 43 TO 30....COMING FROM EHIND TO WIN. CLEAR CREEK HAD A 30 TO 15 POINT LEAD WITH 9 MINUTES TO GO IN GAME AND MAQUOKETA THEN SCORED 28 UNANSWERED POINTS. ZACK BELLENDIR THREW FOR 5 TOUCHDOWN PASSES. MAQUOKETA INTERCEPTED 3 PASSES. THE CARDINALS ARE NOW ARE 4 AND 3. CLEAR CREEK HAS JUST WON ONE GAME THIS SEASON.

JEFF AND MEGAN ROSENBERG OF HAMPTON, IOWA ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN THURSDAY AT A MASON CITY HOSPITAL. PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE JACK AND PAM ROSENBERG OF MAQUOKETA.

WILLIAM HAHLE, SON OF COUNCILMAN AND BUSINESSMAN PAUL HAHLE, WANTS TO BUY THE QUONSET HUT BUILDING FORMERLY OWNED BY CLINTON ENGINES, NOW OWNED BY THE CITY. HE OFFERED $7,500 FOR IT. FOR A LONGTIME, THE CITY HAS DEBATED WHAT TO DO WITH THE RUNDOWN BUILDING. THIS IS ANOTHER CHAPTER AND THEY WILL DISCUSS IT AGAIN AT THEIR NEXT MEETING. HAHLE PLANS TO START A HARDWOOD LUMBER BUSINESS. MEANWHILE, WORK CONTINUES ON GETTING THE FORMER CLINTON ENGIENS ADMINISTRATION BUILDING READY TO BE ANOTHER JACKSON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM. RETIRED MARINE BRIG. GEN. CHARLES MITCHELL IS THE KEY VOLUNTEER ON THAT BIG PROJECT. HIS WIFE, THE FORMER BONNIE WELLS, IS THE CURATOR OF THE MUSEUM ON THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA.

THE IOWA HAWKEYES TODAY UPSET ILLINOIS...WINNING 10 TO 6 AT IOWA CITY.

A SCARECROW BY KAREN LANE AND THE MAQUOKETA CARE CENTER WON TOP HONORS IN A SCARECROW DESIGN CONTEST AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER. THE PRIZE WAS A $50.00 CERTIFICATE.

KAITLIN LUETT HAS BEEN AWARDED THE BROMAN FAMILY FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2007. SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF DENNIS AND DIANE LUETT OF MAQUOKETA AND IS ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA MAJORING IN COMMUNICATIONS.

WORD HAS BEEN RECEIVED OF THE DEATH OF PAUL HANCHAR, AGE 61, OF LITTLE ELM, TEXAS. HE DIED OCTOBER 9TH. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE MONDAY IN LEWISVILLE, TEXAS.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS MOTHER, RUTH HANCHAR OF MAQUOKETA, HIS WIFE DIANE, TWO SONS, ONE DAUGHTER AND A SISTER AND BROTHER.

I SAW "THE WIZARD OF OZ" AT THE OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER LAST NIGHT. THE AUDITORIUM WAS NEARLY FULL...AND IT WAS A VERY GOOD, FUNNY SHOW. CONGRATS TO PAM CRAWFORD, THE DIRECTOR AND HER ASSISTANT MARY GILMORE. JUNE WAHL DID A GREAT JOB AS THE WICKED WITCH AND JACK WILLEY ALSO WAS A BIG HIT AS THE WIZARD. I COULD MENTION ANOTHER DOZEN THAT DID A TERRIFIC JOB.....GOOD SHOW!!!
