NICE WEATHER THESE DAYS...BUT MAY GET HOT AT THE START OF THE FAIR
THIS WEDNESDAY.

THE FAIR STARTS WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH THE PARADE.

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, KARA TIES, A RECENT BELLEVUE HIGH SCHOOL GRAD, WAS NAMED THE 2007 JACKSON COUNTY FAIR QUEEN.
MEGAN FLYNN OF MAQUOKETA, LAST YEAR'S QUEEN, AND FIRST RUNNER-UP IN THE STATE CONTEST, SPOKE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON ABOUT HER EXPERIENCES AS QUEEN AT THE AFTERNOON EVENT AT THE PEARSON CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA.
ALSO DURING THE PROGRAM, ROSS AND VIVIAN RIVER, WHO WILL BE THE GRAND MARSHALS IN THE PARADE, WERE HONORED. THEY RECENTLY SOLD SEVERAL ACRES TO THE FAIRBOARD FOR ADDITIONAL PARKNG AND YESTERDAY, THEY
RECEIVED A STREET SIGN FOR THE AREA WHAT HAS BoldBEEN NAMED THE RIVER FAMILY FARMS ADDITION
AND LONGTIME FAIR MANAGER, TOM CALLAHAN, WAS HONORED WITH A STREET SIGN, CALLAHAN LANE, TO BE PUT UP AT THE FAIRGROUNDS.

DOROTHY GILMORE, AGE 84, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED FRIDAY. HER FULL OBITUARY CAN BE READ AT www.carsonandson.com

THE NEW MEXICAN RESTUARANT IS A BIG HIT.

THE ARC, NOW THE MAQUOKETA Y, IS NEARING COMPLETION.....THEY ARE WORKING ON THE PARKING LOT.

WAS IN THE THEISEN'S NEW STORE TODAY FOR FIRST TIME....VERY NICE.

GETTING GOOD COMMENTS ON THE NEW MOVIE...."HAIRSPRAY", SHOWING NOW AT
THE VOY 1 THEATRE.
