THE SCOTT COUNTY YMCA IS WORKING ON PRORAMS AND A FEE STRUCTURE FOR WHEN THEY TAKE OVER MANAGEMENT OF MAQUOKETA NEW AREA RECREATION CENTER (ARC) GOING UP JUST EAST OF GOODENOW FOOTBALL FIELD, AND
EXPECTED TO OPEN OCTOBER 1ST. FRANK KLIPSCH, SCOTT COUNTY YMCA PRESIDENT AND CEO SAID IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS, PROGRAMS AND FEES WILL BE ANNOUNCED AND A DIRECTOR TO OVERSEE THE MAQUOKETA OPERATION WILL BE HIRED. HE SAID HE ANTICIPATES A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP WILL COST $39.50 A MONTH. THERE WILL BE YOUTH, ADULT AND FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS. HE SAID IT MIGHT TAKE A YEAR TO GET UP TO THE 1,100 MEMBERSHIPS THAT ARE PLANNING ON.
A WELL KNOWN JACKSON COUNTY MAN DIED YESTERDAY AT HIS HOME UNDER THE CARE OF HOSPICE OF DUBUQUE. RICHARD JOHN NORPEL, SR., AGE 88, OF BELLEVUE WAS A STATE REPRESENTATIVE, STATE SENATOR, JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISOR AND BELLEVUE CITY COUNCILMAN DURING HIS MANY YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE.
US SENATOR JOE BIDEN WILL VISIT THE HOME OF FORMER ST. REP. BOB AND ANN OSTERHAUS THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON FROM 1 UNTI 2:30. THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO COME AND VISIT WITH THE SENATOR, WHO WILL BE DISCUSSING HIS PLAN TO BRING A CONCLUSION TO THE WAR IN IRAQ. REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED.
