85 FOR A HIGH YESTERDAY...
3/10 OF AN INCH OF RAIN OVERNIGHT...
AND A HIGH TODAY ONLY IN 60'S.

THE STATE DOT ANNOUNED THAT IT WIKLL RESURFACE HIGHWAY 64 FROM MAQUOKETA TO PRESTON THIS SUMMER. SOME OF THE WORK WILL BE DONE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS ON PLATT STREET.

THE MAQUOKETA FFA BANQUET WAS LAST NIGHT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL....WITH ABOUT 200 ON HAND TO FIRST ENJOY A STEAK DINNER AND THEN A PROGRAM
AFTER. MANY AWARDS WERE PRESENTED:
HONORARY FFA DEGREE TO TROY THEIDE OF THE DECKER HOTEL AND COMFORT INN MOTEL.
BLUE AND GOLD AWARD TO DR. DALE REESEESEE OF MAQUOKETA VET CLINIC.
I'M NOT SURE ON THE SPELLING OF HIS NAME.
THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD TO BEIDLER'S IMPLEMENT.
THE BILL STEWART FFA ALUMNI AWARD TO CATHY EASTERLY.
THE STAR CHAPTER FARMER AWARD TO VICE-PRESIDENT MATT GERLACH.
THE DEKALB AWARD TO SECRETARY KELSEY SCOTT. THE NEW BOARD WAS ANNOUNCED FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. THE NEW PRESIDENT WILL BE CALLIE MUHLHUSEN AND HER BOARD MEMBERS WILL BE: AMBER HEINRICK, JENNIFER IHRIG, GAGE SMITH (ONLY BOY ON THE 7-MEMBER BOARD), CALLIE COATS, JORDAN SMITH, AND LAURA WENTWORTH. THE FFA ADVISORS ARE JENNIE NABB AND GARY BRUNS AND THEY BOTH RECEIVED A GIFT FROM THE MEMBERS AND BOTH
THANKED THE CHAPTER FOR HAVING A GREAT YEAR. MAQUOKETA HAS ONE OF THE TOP FFA CLUBS IN THE STATE AND HAS HAD FOR YEARS. THE FFA ALUMNI
IS ALSO ONE OF THE BIGGEST AND BEST IN THE STATE. ITS PRESIDENT IS LEE JOHNSON. THE HIGH SCHOOL FFA PRESIDENT THIS PAST YEAR WAS KELLY SHUSTER.

GERALD MILLER, AGE 54, A MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN, WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL WITH POSSIBLE INJURIES. THE OTHER VEHICLE IN THE ACCIDENT WAS DRIVEN BY A ZWINGLE MAN. MILLER WAS CHARGED WITH FAILURE TO YIELD AND DAMAGE TO HIS FORD TRUCK WAS AROUND $5,000.
