COOL TODAY, HIGH OF 65. TONIGHT, LOW IN THE 40'S AND TOMORROW, HIGH ONLY IN THE 50'S.
SATURDAY (STARTS EARLY IN MORNING) IS FIRST DAY OF FALL.
THE MAQUOKETA FOOTBALL TEAM LOST TO MARION HERE FRIDAY NIGHT,
BUT PLAYED A GOOD GAME AGAINST THE RANKED INDIANS. THIS WEEK, THEY PLAY AT ANAMOSA AND HAVE A GOOD CHANCE TO WIN THAT GAME. THEY ARE NOW 0 AND 3 OVERALL.
GENERAC POWER SYSTEMS, ONE OF THE NEW INDUSTRIES IN THE SOUTH INDUSTRIAL PARK, WAS SOLD LAST WEEK. IT EMPLOYS OVER A HUNDRED. THEIR 3 WISCONSIN PLANTS ALSO WERE SOLD, TO CCMP CAPITAL ADVISOR LLC, A PRIVATE INVESTOR IN NEW YORK CITY. NO SELLING PRICE WAS ANNOUNCED AND NO PLANS ANNOUNCED. SO, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS MIGHT MEAN TO MAQUOKETA. THE NEW OWNERS OWN ARAMARK IN PHILADELPHIA...THE SPORTING GOODS CHAINC, CABELAS OF NEBRASKA AND THE MOVIE THEATRE COMPANY AMC ENTERTAINMENT. SO..THEY ARE A BIG FIRM. THE SELLER WAS THE FOUNDER OF THE COMPANY, ROBERT KERN OF WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN.
HE STARTED THE COMPANY IN HIS GARAGE AND IS NOW AROUND 80 YEARS OLD BUT STILL ACTIVE IN THE FIRM.
NO LOCAL DEATHS OR BIRTHS.
LOIS ANN FISCHER, A KMAQ SALE REP, CELEBRATES HER BIRTHDAY TOMORROW.
HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
