SAGE ROSENFELS, FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA, PLAYED HIS FIRST GAME WITH HIS NEW TEAM SATUDAY NIGHT, HOUSTON TEXAS AND THEY BEAT KANSAS CITY CHIEFS, 24 TO 14 IN NFL PRE-SEASON FOOTBALL. SAGE HAD A GOOD NIGHT, PLAYING BACK-UP TO DAVID CARR AT QUARTERBACK.
SAGE WENT 10 FOR 18 IN PASSING FOR 78 YARDS WITH NO INTERCEPTIONS AND HE ALSO RAN FOR 9 YARDS.
MISS JACKSON COUNTY FAIR, MEGHAN FLYNN OF MAQUOKETA, A 2006 MCHS GRAD, LAST FRIDAY DID WELL IN THE MISS IOWA STATE FAIR CONTEST AT DES MOINES. SHE WAS NAMED FIRST RUNNER-UP.
SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF STEVE AND JUNE FLYNN OF RURAL MAQUOKETA.
JEFF AND LISA HOLTZ OF HOLTZ-VIEW FARMS OF RURAL MAQUOKETA EXHIBITED THE OVER-ALL GRAND CHAMPION AYRSHIRE AT THE IOWA STATE FAIR DAIRY SHOW WITH A SIX-YEAR-OLD COW. THE COW TOPPED THE FIELD OF 175 EXHIBITED. COMPETITORS CAME FROM 5 DIFFERENT STATES AND THE HOLTZ COW WAS ALSO THE OVERALL PRODUCTION AWARD WINNER.
SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.
ASHLEY MILLER, AGE 19, OF MILES AND FORMERLY OF MAQUOKETA WAS KILLED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT SATURDAY MORNING NEAR SPRAGUEVILLE.
SHE WAS A 2005 GRAD OF MCHS. HER SPECIAL FRIEND WAS ALSO IN THE CAR AND IS IN UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS IN IOWA CITY.
