ROTARY DUCK RACE WINNERS: DAVE UPDEGRAPH OF DUBUQUE,
$1,000 AND HE WILL GIVE IT BACK TO ROTARY FOUNDATION.
THE $100 WINNERS: DARWIN FRANZEN, PRESTON...GENI NIESS, MAQUOKETA...ED HERMANN OF MAQUOKETA...KORY KUHLMAN, MAQUOKETA AND BRET GEBHART, MAQUOKETA. 1,000 DUCKS WERE SOLD AND ANOTHER (4TH) SUCCESSFUL FUND RAISER FOR THE ROTARY.

THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GIRL'S SOFTBALL TEAM
HAS WON 9 GAMES IN A ROW. LAST NIGHT, BEATING VINTON ON THE ROAD IN A DOUBLEHEADER, 5 TO 1 AND WINNING ALSO GAME TWO, 9 TO 3.
THE CARDINAL GIRLS ARE NOW 16 AND 8 OVERALL. THEY PLAY NEXT
IN THE DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY.

JACKSON COUNTY'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN MAY WAS 3.7...DOWN FROM 4.7 IN APRIL. VERY GOOD RATE FOR JACKSON COUNTY.

JACKSON COUNTY ATTORNEY JOHN KIES(DEMOCRAT) , WHO LOST PRIMARY TO PHIL TABOR, SAID HE PLANS TO SEEK THE COUNTY ATTORNEY POSITION THIS FALL AS AN INDEPENDENT.
