BEAUTIFUL DAY IN MAQUOKETA.
A BURGLARY CHARGE HAS NOW BEEN ADDED TO THE ATTEMPTED MURDER AND WILFUL INJURY CHARGES AGAINST 53 YEAR OLF MARK WILLEY OF
MAQUOKETA. ALSO, WE HAVE LEARNED THAT NO PRELIMINARY HEARING WAS HELD AND AN ARRAIGNMENT HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR MAY 6TH. ALSO, WILLEY HAS REQUESTED A PUBLIC DEFENDER, WHICH WAS DENIED. MAGISTRATE R.J. BESCH DENIED THE REQUEST DUE TO AN INCOMPLETE APPLICATION. APPARENTLY WILLEY WAS NOT ABLE TO HIRE THE DUBUQUE ATTORNEY HE WANTED TO. WILLEY REMAINS IN THE JACKSON COUNTY JAIL IN MAQUOKETA.
WE STILL HAVE DEER ACCIDENTS....TWO IN CLINTON COUNTY YESTERDAY.
THERE ARE NOW AROUND 1,000 MUMPS CASES IN IOWA. I THINK I HEARD THAT THERE ARE 4 OR 5 IN JACKSON COUNTY.
JERRY JOHNSON, 67, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THIS MORNING. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO READ HIS FULL OBITURARY TOMORROW AT WWW.CARSONANDSON.COM
THEY ARE DIGGING THE FOUNDATION TODAY FOR DR. DAVID SYBESMA'S
NEW OPTOMETRY OFFICE JUST WEST OF TACO JOHN'S OFF WEST PLATT STREET. THE BUILDING PERMIT WAS FOR SOMEWHERE OVER $200,000.
HE NOW RENTS OFFICE SPACE FROM DR. BERNARD, ACROSS FROM THE FAREWAY STORE.
THE JACKSON COUNTY PRODUCTS SHOW WILL BE THIS SUNDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 4 P.M. AT THE PERASON CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS.
REPRESENTATIVES FROM 21 JACKSON COUNTY INDUSTRIES WILL HAVE DISPLAYS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT THEY MANUFACTURE HERE IN TOWN.
AN AD IN THE PAPER FOR RETIRING VOCAL MUSIC TEACHER PAM CRAWFORD, SAYING SHE IS NOW ACCEPTING STUDENTS FOR PRIVATE PIANO AND VOICE LESSONS.
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
