THERE WAS A FRIDAY REPORT.

THIS A SPECIAL SUNDAY REPORT.

12 BELOW FRIDAY NIGHT, AND 9 BELOW SATURDAY NIGHT.
TODAY, SUNDAY...SUNNY AND WARMER.

FRIDAY NIGHT, HERE IN TOWN, THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL BOYS
EASILY DEFEATED MAQUOKETA VALLEY OF DELHI. LUKE PATTERSON HAD 25 POINTS.

MONDAY NIGHT, THE CARDINAL BOYS PLAY THEIR FINAL REGULAR GAME OF THE SEASON, HERE, A CONFERENCE GAME AGAINST MARION.

YESTERDAY, TWO CARDINAL WRESTLERS QUALIFIED FOR THE STATE TOURNAMENT THIS COMING WEEK AT DES MOINES.
JUNIOR CASEY STUART,AT 112 POUNDS. AND SENIOR ADAM PAPE AT 160 POUNDS. PAPE WAS THERE LAST YEAR. THIS WILL BE FIRST STATE APPEARANCE FOR STUEART. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH WRESTLERS.
DR. PAUL KOOB WILL BE GOING OUT TO DES MOINES THIS WEEK TO COVER
THE TWO CARDINAL WRESTKERS , AS WELL AS SEVERAL MATCHES FOR
DEWITT AND A COUPLE FOR NORTHEAST. HE WILL BE DESCRIBING THE MATCHES OF 10 WRESTLERS TOTAL, SO HE WILL BE BUSY.
AND THE WRESTLING THIS YEAR WILL BE IN THE NEW AUDITORIUM BUILDT RIGHT NEXT TO VETERAN'S AUDITORIUM.

THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS PLAYED THEIR TOURNAMENT GAME LAST NIGHT AT DUBUQUE WAHLERT AND LOST 54 TO 27.
DEWITT ALSO LOST LAST NIGHT TO WESTERN DUBUQUE, 30 TO 23.
HAD MAQUOKETA AND DEWITT WON, THEY WOULD HAVE PLAYED EACH OTHER MONDAY NIGHT.

A TWO-CAR GARAGE WAS DETROYED BY FIRE YESTERDAY AFTERNOO AT 612 WEST PLATT STREET. THE FIREMEN ARRIVED ABOUT 2:30 AND THE GARAGE WAS FULL ENGULFED. THE GARAGE WENT WITH THE HOME OWNED BY CHANCE PARKER. HIS CHILDREN WERE OUTSIDE AND ALTERTED THEIR FATHER TO THE FIRE. PARKER TOLD FIREFIGHTERS EH SAW FLAMES COMING FROM AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET ON THE NEWLY REMODELED GARAGE. NO CAR IN GARAGE. A MATTRESS INSIDE WAS DESTROYED. NO DAMAGE ESTIMATE. JUST THE FRAME IS STANDING THIS MORNING. TRAFFIC HAD TO BE DETOURED ON BUSY WEST PLATT.
AND IT WAS COLD FOR FIREMEN FIGHTING THE FIRE.

JIM "RED" BLAYNEY, AGE 89, DIED YESTERDAY MORNING AT THE LOCAL HOSPTIAL. HE AND NOLAN ZUGSWERERT OF MAQUOKETA FOR A LONGTIME RAN A FEED BUSINESS KNOWN AS B & Z MILL AND FEED AT THE NORTH EDGE OF TOWN, ACROSS FROM THE BASEBALL PARK.
HE WAS A WAR WAR 2 VET. HE AND HIS WIFE GAVE A BUILDING THEY OWNED DOWNTOWN TO THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND IT IS NOW USED BY THE CHAMBER AS THEIR OFFICE. HE IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER, KAREN BRUSKIN OF STUART, FLORIDA AND A SON JIM IN MINNEAPOLIS AND ONE GRANDAUGTHTER. A NICE GUY HE WAS.
ALWAYS PLEASANT TO TALK TO.

WELL... HOW ABOUT THAT....A RATHER LONG SUNDAY REPORT.
