SUNNY AND IN MID 30'S.
TOMORROW, IN 40'S.
WEEKEND, BACK DOWN TO THE 20'S FOR A HIGH.

KMAQ IS COVERING TEN 2-A WRESTLERS AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT.
ALL WRESTLED LAST NIGHT. BEFORE THE NIGHT WAS OVER, 7 OF THE 10 WERE ELIMINATED.
MAQUOKETA'S CASEY STUART LOST HIS OPENING MATCH 5 TO 4 (IN THE FINAL 30 SECONDS) AND IN THE WRESTLE-BACK LATER IN EVENING, HE WON 7 TO3 AND WRESTLES TONIGHT. HE COULD STILL GO ALL THE WAY AND END UP WITH A 3RD AT 119 POUNDS.
ADAM PAPE LOST HIS FIRST MATCH, 9 TO 0 AND HIS WRESTLE-BACK
MATCH 14 TO 4 AND FINISHED THE SEASON WITH A 24 AND 13 RECORD.

IN 1-A BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ACTION LAST NIGHT HERE IN TOWN,
UNDEFEATED BELLEVUE MARQUETTE WON AGAIN, DEFEATING PRINCE OF PEACE OF CLINTON, BY 29 POINTS. I SAW THE GAME. THE MARQUETTE CENTER, JORDAN EGLSEDER, STANDS 7-FOOT. HE'S BIG TOO AND WORKS WELL UNDER THE BASKET. HE (SENIOR) HAS SIGNED AN AGREEMENT TO PLAY WITH UNI IN CEDAR FALLS. MARQUETTE IS OUR BEST BET TO MAKE IT TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT FROM THIS AREA. ALSO NORTHEAST BOYS COULD GO AND THE BELLEVUE GIRLS (PUBLIC SCHOOL) NEED JUST ONE MORE WIN AND THEY WOULD GO, BUT HAVE A STRONG OPPONENT, TIPTON,THIS SATURDAY NIGHT.

JACKSON COUNTY SUPERVISORS APPROVED TWO NEW ORDINANCES THIS WEEK. ONE SETS UP PROVISIONS FOR QUARANTINE OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AND THE OTHER PROHIBITS LEAD PAINT IN COUNTY HOMES.

THE NEW STRIP-MALL BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION ON WEST PLATT STREET, NEAR DICK'S SUPERMARKET, IS BEING WORKED ON DAILY, BY OWNER KEN MOORE AND HIS CONTRACTORS. IT WILL HAVE POTENTIAL FOR 5 STORES. THE ONE THEY ARE FINISHING NOW WILL BE WHERE RCS COMPUTERS WILL MOVE TO , ALONG WITH THE FORMER A-1 TV STORE, PURCHASED BY RCS COMPUTERS. LINDA STURTZ, MAQUOKETA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, REPORTED TO THE COUNCIL THIS PAST MONDAY NIGHT THAT THE MOVE OVER IS EXPECTED TO HAPPEN IN LATE MARCH. SO, IN JUST OVER A MONTH, MAQUOKETA WILL HAVE A BIG NEW TV, APPLIANCE AND COMPUTER STORE.

OBIE'S RESTAURANT (FIRST STARTED IN HURSTVILLE) LOCATED ON HIGHWAY 64 WEST (IN WHAT WAS MANY YEARS AGO THE TANGO BUILDING) HAS BEEN SOLD BY SHARON OBERBROEKLING TO DAN WAITE OF
MAQUOKETA. HE HAS LEASED THE BUILDING AND BUSINESS TO DONNA HEISTER. SHE BEGINS BUSINESS MARCH 1ST. DONNA HAS WORKED PART TIME THERE FOR YEARS AND ALSO HAS BEEN WORKING DAYTIME AT OSTERHAUS PHARMACY. SHE WILL BE LEAVING OSTERHAUS PHARMACY
TO WORK FULLTIME IN HER OWN BUSINESS. THE POPULAR OBIE'S TACOS ARE KNOWN THROUGHOUT EASTERN IOWA. THE MENU INCLUDES OTHER MEXICAN FAVORITES AND AMERICAN SANDWICHES AND DINNERS. THERE IS ALSO A BAR, AND GAME ROOM.

THE DAIRY QUEEN HAS OPENED FOR THE SEASON. SPRING CAN'T BE FAR AWAY.
