BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY..HIGH OF 79. GOT 11/100 OF AN INCH OF RAIN YESTERDAY.

THIS AFTERNOON, A FARM WORKER WAS IN A TRACTOR ACCIDENT AT THE GLEN SPRANK DAIRY FARM 6 MILES NORTH OF PRESTON.
CRAIG PORTZ, AGE 50, OF CLINTON, WAS AIRLIFTED TO UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS IN IOWA CITY. NO CONDITION REPORT AVAILABLE, AS HOSPITALS NO LONGER GIVE THOSE OUT TO THE MEDIA. PORTZ AND THE TRACTOR FELL ABOUT 15 TO 20 FEET OVER THE SIDE OF A SILAGE PILE AND THE TRACTOR LANDED ON PORTZ.

MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL NOT BE GOING ON MANY FIELD TRIPS IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. THAT WAS DECIDED AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MONDAY NIGHT, TO SAVE ON FUEL COSTS.

LOW TURN-OUT AS EXPECTED FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION YESTERDAY IN MAQUOKETA, MAINLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CONTEST. THE TWO INCUMBANTS WERE ELECTED AND THE PPEL FUNDING WAS APPROVED BY THE VOTERS.

A FEW DAYS AGO I MENTIONED ON THIS REPORT THAT A NEW HOME WAS BEING BUILDT ON SUMMIT STREET IN MAQUOKETA. THE CONSTRUCTION FIGURE I MENTIONED CAME OUT OF CHATTER AT THE REGULAR MORNING COFFEE GROUP SESSION. AND YES, NOT EVERYTHING IS "GOSPEL" AT THESE. SO, NOT TO BE MISLEADING, I NEED TO MENTION THAT THE FIGURE QUOTED HERE HAS NO BASIS....AND THAT THE HOME WILL BE A NICE ONE, BUT LESS COSTLY THAN I MENTIONED. WHEN A LIST OF ROUTINE BUILDING PERMITS IS PUBLISHED, MORE ACCURATE FIGURES ARE LISTED FOR THOSE INTERESTED.

THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS PLAY FOOTBALL AT MOUNT VERNON THIS FRIDAY NIGHT.

LAST NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOST, 3 GAMES TO NONE, TO 7TH RATED DEWITT CENTRAL, AT DEWITT.

THANKS FOR CHECKING IN.
