NICE WEATHER WEEKEND...
NICE TODAY...HIGH OF 88.

THE COUNTY ATTORNEY WAS DIRECTED BY THE SUPERVISORS TODAY TO FILE A CIVIL INFRACTION SUIT AGAINST FRANK RANDALL FOR NOT GETTING HIS PROPERTY ON ROCKDALE ROAD CLEANED UP. RANDALL ASKED FOR 90 MORE DAYS TODAY,BUT THE BOARD SAID NO AND DIRECTED THE ATTORNEY TO START LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IN MAGISTRATE COURT. RANDALL REPORTED THAT THIS AMOUNT OF CLEANUP HAS BEEN DONE: IN THE LAST YEAR, HE HAS REMOVED MORE THAN 65 AUTOS....40 LOADS OF METALS....350 TIRES AND RIMS....20 LOADS OF APPLIANCES AND MORE THAN 20 LOADS TO THE LANDFILL. WOW.

BOB AND ANN OSTERHAUS ARE STILL IN CHINA. WONDER IF THEY ARE CHECKING THIS DAILY REPORT OVER THERE.

THE CITY COUNCIL BOUGHT A NEW SQUAD CAR LAST NIGHT, FROM BRAD DEERY MOTORS. A CHEVY IMPALA AT A COST OF $19,311. AND SPEAKING OF BRAD DEERY MOTORS....WORK STARTED TODAY AT THEIR DOWNTOWN LOCATION OF REDOING ONE OF THEIR AUTO DISPLAY LOTS, INCLUDING NEW LIGHT POLES AND A NEW SURFACE. AND AT THEIR HIGHWAY 61 LOCATION, THEY ARE REMOVING
A LARGE PILE OF DIRT AND WILL PAVE THE ENTIRE AREA AROUND THEIR BUILDING OUT THERE AND THEN FENCE IN THE AREA THAT IS USED TO STORE PROGRAM CARS.
FOR FUTURE SALE. THEY WOULD LIKE TO BUY THE OLD TRUCK STOP BUILDING, BUT AFTER ABOUT 10 YEARS OF CLEANING UP THE SOIL AROUND IT, THE SUPERVISORS FOR SOME REASON, DON'T WANT TO SELL THE PROPERTY....A BIG MYSTERY TO MANY CITIZENS.

POLICE BLOTTER: WAGONER FOOT CLINIC WAS BROKEN INTO YESTERDAY.
MINDY LAFRENZ ALSO REPORTED HER SIDE VEHICLE WINDOW WAS BROKEN.
C & R TIRES REPORTED A GEO METRO STOLEN MONDAY MORNING AND THEN LATER IT WAS FOUND ON HIGHWAY 61 NEAR WELTON.
AND DICK'S EXPRESS REPORTED A GAS DRIVE-OFF MONDAY. A WHITE CAVALIER DROVE OFF WITH PAYING FOR $25.00 WORTH OF GASOLINE.

THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS HAVING A FREE PROGRAM AT 1 TOMORROW AFTERNOON AT THE MUSEUM ON THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA ON THE MAQUOKETA JUNIOR COLLEGE WHICH WAS IN FORCE FROM 1927-1943. IT WAS A FULLY ACCREDITED COLLEGE IN THE SAME BUILDING AS THE HIGH SCHOOL IN THOSE DAYS, THE BUILDING NOW USED AS THE MIDDLE SCHOOL. IT ALSO HAD EXTRA CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING SPORTS. IT CLOSED IN MAY OF 1943 BECAUSE OF A LACK OF ENROLLMENT BROUGHT ABOUT BY WORLD WAR II.
ANY OF YOU ATTEND IT?
