93 TODAY, 97 YESTERDAY AND HOT AND HUMID FORECAST FOR REST OF WEEK, WITH SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN.

MATT OSTERHAUS OF MAQUOKETA WOKE UP EARLY THIS MORNING TO FIND SOMONE IN HIS HOUSE.
HE HAD BEEN CALLED OUT OF BED BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ALARM AT OSTERHAUS PHARMACY AT 12:57 A.M. THIS MORNING. POLICE CHIEF BRAD KORANDA SAID IT APPEARS THE ALARM AT THE BUSINESS WAS NOT RELATED TO THE BREAK-IN AT THE HOUSE. MATT CAUGHT THE 16 YEAR OLD, BUT HE ESCAPED BEFORE POLICE ARRIVED. AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES, POLICE FOUND THE BOY, DEVON JAMES MARTINEZ AFTER HE RAN THROUGH SOME BACKYARDS ON SOUTH MAIN. HE WAS CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF BURGLARY IN THE 2ND DEGREE, PUBLIC INTOXICATION AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHENALIA. WHEN OFFICERS ARRESTED HIM, THEY FOUND ITEMS THAT DIDN'T BELONG TO HIM AND WHICH HE HAD TAKEN FROM NEARBY RESIDENTS. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE LAW CENTER,
AND JUVINILE PROBATION OFFICER BRIAN BOPES ASKED THAT HE BE RELEASED TO HIS MOTHER, MITZI MARTINEZ OF MAQUOKETA. BOPES SAID HE HAS FILED A PETITION THROUGH THE JACKSON COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR JUVENILE COURT.

ALL FOR NOW...TAKE CARE AND HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
